While attempting to disassemble my vz24 czech Mauser earlier today, I "bubba-ized" the front barrel band spring. A web site I was referring to indicated that this part would come right off, however I later realized that the site was using a yugo M-48 as an example and the spring is slightly different than that of the vz24 (or so I've read). Anyway, the spring was very brittle and just snapped off. :(

Is it possible to shoot the rifle without the front barrel band? Where can I order a new spring for this rifle? Any help would be appreciated.

You can shoot without the front band.
For a replacement, try Gun Parts Corporation, Sarco, or Jack First.

Thanks for the info. If I can't get the part, I'll just shoot it without the front band until I can find it.

Can anyone tell me which type of Mauser uses a band retaining spring that is interchangeable with that of a VZ-24? I checked out the Gun Part Corp. website and they had the part listed for other types of Mauser's but no vz24's.
