A state senator in SC has introduced a bill in SC that will allow anyone that can purchase a gun legally in SC to carry without a CWP. I am a CWP permit holder and respect the process. The state senator is a former law enforcement officer. I respect his introduction of the bill and totally support it's passage here. I firmly believe in the right to carry so I hope that he gets a lot of support. Congrats.

Posting requirements for Activism are stickied at the top of this forum. HOW THIS FORUM WORKS: Read before posting

One of those requirements is for Activism threads present a plan of action that others can put to use. Without any information identifying the bill or the politician or how to support either there isn't anything to work with.

I would support the bill (in fact I heard it passed its first small committee by now), but the process for getting a permit here is pretty easy. Shall issue, one day of class, $50 app fee, wait 90 days. After you have it, you just have to send them another $50 every 5 years to renew.

I would much rather see them take up the cause of reducing the number of gun free zones ahead of other efforts. The "no carry in bars" provision is the worst, followed by school property, anywhere with an admission fee, etc; take your pick. We have a lot of gun-free zones.

I agree. I am for the CWP permit and hope that they do reduce the number of no carry zones.

That would be nice. Then they would be well on their way to reciprocating the GA GFL.

I'd be happy if they eliminated the permit requirement, but I'd be more happy if they eliminated gun-free zones first.

Indeed. It's just natural for people in adjoining states to do some travelling back and forth, and it's a big headache having to get a second permit (New Hampshire for example) just to be able to carry in Georgia.
