Anybody know when this will finally hit the market? This model has been talked about for a year, but there is no real info at Sig about it....

IIRC it is due to hit the stores in later this year. It would not surprise me if they did not show up until summer.

Sig keeps their secrets well. I don't care when it comes out as long as they have a winner and it works right from the get go. I want that pistol and I loath being a SIG beta tester.

At this point are you sure we're not Alpha testers?:scrutiny:

I was just at Cabela's this weekend and they had one in the gun case. Had some special design SIG 290 grips (SIG advertising) on it that didn't thrill me. Line was so long I wasn't going to wait to pick it up and check it out. Did look like a very nice size and thickness.

That's funny true, Tommygunn.

I've been able to play with one quite a bit at work, and I'm not impressed. It's too damned small, at least for me, and the trigger is heavy and stacks really bad. And this is coming from a Sig fan.
Also I thought the grips were tacky. It says "first edition" something or other. Which means, what, it's gonna get recalled?

I've been told by two local gun shops that they should start shipping them by spring but i too would not be suprised if they dont start showing up till summer.

Hmmm...when you say too small, do you mean height/length, width, or both? Can you compare it to a PM-9 or a G26?
Thanks for the feedback on the trigger.

Horrible looking grip with a cheesy 1st Edition stamp on it. :barf: Honestly why?
For those who have been waiting I hear Cabelas has them.

You can change the grip panels, right?

I think I'll wait til this "1st edition" hysteria dies down . . . . . :(
Rellascout, thank you for the photo & especially for comparing it with the Sig P238.

Unless you are a die hard SIG fan I'd be sure to compare it to the Kahr PM40 or PM9.
Here is a photo of my SIG P238 sitting on top of my PM40:
