I finally have aquired all of my reloading equipment and components except for my bullets. I am reloading for my M1A Socom II (.308 WIN) and my CMP
M1 Garand (.30-06 SPRG). I want to make sure that when I order that a ".30 caliber bullet" works for BOTH calibers? I'm have it in my mind that it does, just want to make sure. I have been told to order IMR-4895 Powder, CCI #34 NATO Primers and 150 grain Cannelured bullet for BOTH rifles and load by the book and work up slowly...Any answers, questions, concerns?

Lyman's 49th says Hornady #3031 will work for both rifles.
It also says that standard Large Rifle Primers will work,
but I'm sure others more knowledgeable will be by to help.

Look at bulk .30 cal 147/150g projectiles from Hornady, Remington or Winchester.

In descending order of accuracy, the likely bulk candidates are Hornady, Remington and Winchester. Pricing tends to follow the same trend. Funny how that works :-)

There are more accurate projectiles available, but they won't have cannelures. If you size/resize the necks to the right dimension, the projectiles will be held tight enough that a cannelure isn't necessary.

I'm a big fan of Hornady projectiles as a good cost/accuracy tradeoff purchase. They make a 155g PALMA bullet if you want something quite nice (for a price).

Hornady's 7th ed. manual lists military rifle loads for the .308 Win and appropriate loads for the M1 Garand.
