After being here for a few years.... There are always a few debates where someone says, "Get Both". I have been an AK / SKS guy but I have decided to dabble on the dark side. ;)

Here's the start. A M&P 15 Stripped Lower, DPMS Parts Kit, and a UTG A2 Stock.

I found this really easy, but fun. (Already want to do another). It took about 1 hour, I watched the videos on youtube and the directions at AR15.com. I spent most of the time, making sure I identified the spring or part correctly. I did not use punches. I used channel lock pliers with masking tape (lots of it) covering the teeth on the pliers. It was very easy to simply squeeze the roll pins in. Why this isnt the prefered method, I dont know?

The upper is going to be either a 20" bull barrel "Varmint" or a 20" Heavy Barrel, Free Floating aluminum tube.... :scrutiny:

FYI - I'm not selling off the com-block stuff to fund this.... :) yet:eek:

Dude, you're screwed.

This disease is incurable, only staved off by building another, and another...

After using a friend's AR in a rifle match, my Saiga conversion is up for sale. Why? Reloadable 7.62x39 brass is rare as hen's teeth and picking it out of the Berdan primed stuff on the ground is an exercise in futility. Plus the AR has very little recoil, which is nice.

Welcome to the fold

Congrats! Tell us the truth, the front takedown retention pin went flying across the room, didn't it. If not, you're pretty good!

Which is usually followed immediately by "Ohhhhh...so that's why I'm supposed to put a sheet over my head!" :)

I do mine inside a 1 gallon ziplock.

Nice start! I also did my first build using a S&W M&P15 stripped lower, really glad I chose that one. Paid a little more but over the last two years I would have regretted going with the cheaper lowers I was considering at the time.

Actually, it did! But I found it right a way in the groove of the hardwood floor.
(So I guess, I'm not that good):o
