I think I am about to spend $1000 plus tax on a HK 45C pistol and would like so input from owners of this pistol. Would this be a good CCW choice?

cwp3420 March 7, 2011, 09:44 PM I've been carrying my HK45CT for about 3 months now. I have a Crimson Trace LG-645 laser on it and carry it in a Mitch Rosen holster. It's not as compact as my HK P2000SK but I find it conceals well under a loose T-shirt. Mine has the threaded barrel so that adds a little bit of length to it. I did have to replace the "little finger" extension on the short mag to a flat base to conceal it easier, but I find it's not difficult to hide. Plus it's a fantastic shooter. Good luck! badbadtz560 March 7, 2011, 10:24 PM Only cons i can think of at the moment: The decock lever can be troublesome if you ride the safety or if you carry it cocked'n locked You could decock it upon draw.. or upon firing It will not fire if your thumb holds down the decock lever all the way down if you're unfamiliar w/ HK's, u might dislike the trigger nwilliams March 8, 2011, 02:44 AM I had one, I sold it and I regret it now.:banghead: That's my simple answer. My big issue was the price, they are so damn expensive. I got mine used for $850 and even though it was LNIB I still felt like I spent way too much money. I ended up selling it because I needed to pay off some bills and now that the bills are paid off I want the gun back.:( Very accurate and reliable gun, very comfy to hold and shoot and not too big for ccw, many people seem to agree that the Hk 45c is one of the best .45 ACP handguns out there short of the 1911. Jed Carter March 8, 2011, 05:02 AM Nice pistol, but no Tritium night sights, really fat grip, and a $1000 price tag, keep me from pulling the trigger on the fullsize. I carry a SIG RCS 1911 with Novak night sights. or a CZ PCR, over all length is greater on the SIG but it conceals better because the grip is thinner. The sights can be changed on the H&K, for at least $100 more. Really nice pistol in spite of it's drawbacks, like the safety decocker, price of HK magazines, and glow in the dark vs tritium sights. Bentonville March 8, 2011, 05:25 AM I just finished cleaning mine after a weekend of shooting. Shoots as soft as any .45 I know and I am very accurate with it. In short, I love this pistol. It's not really compact but is doable for a CCW. It has the two interchangeable backstraps in M and S which help it fit the hand. I have smallish hands and the gun fits me perfectly, unlike a USP. I believe you can find it for less that your stated amount. Did you check CDNN and Top Gun Supply? Sometimes they come up for sale on the HKpro.com boards for decent used prices. You might check there. benderx4 March 8, 2011, 09:59 AM Best carry 45 you'll find anywhere - LOVE mine! kowenjr March 8, 2011, 12:45 PM I had one. Sold it. It's a very nice gun. I had zero issues with it. I found it a bit big for my carry purposes and also I wanted to keep all my carry guns DAO. It is extremely nice to shoot, low recoil and very accurate. I was going to keep it for my HD gun but ended up with a G21sf which has a larger capacity.
