The bill (http://legislature.idaho.gov/legislation/2011/H0222.htm) will be before the Idaho House State Affairs Committee tomorrow morning.

The journey this bill must complete is as follows: Idaho House State Affairs Committee ---> Full Idaho House (http://legislature.idaho.gov/house/membership.cfm) ---> Idaho Senate State Affairs Committee (most likely) ---> Full Idaho Senate (http://legislature.idaho.gov/senate/membership.cfm) ---> Governor.

Twin Falls Mayor Don Hall, who is CSIs Law Enforcement Program instructor and a former police officer, said he supports the Second Amendment, but with limits.

I spent 12 years as a police officer, spent hours in training regarding target acquisition, safe use and deadly force situations, he said. If Im ever called upon to use those (skills), Ive had the training. Generally, the general public does not.

Typical elitist attitude.:banghead:

At my college we are allowed to have a pistol in the car as long as you have your CC license and its locked in your car. Carrying a gun on your person is still illegal, and I know many people I would not want to be able to actually carry to class, and many others I would be fine with carrying.

Hit it.
Not too impressed with the "gun check in" photo though. Bolt closed and mag in place (on what looks like a .22 Magnum). NOT how I'd "check in" a firearm to be sure.

I think the "good mayor" needs to read up on the latest statistics nationally and catch up on the effect Concealed Carry laws have had on reducing the crime rate in any given locale...Oh, Mr. Mayor.... CCW holders have proven to be very safe and responsible gunowners. In effect, they have fewer ND's than LEO's, who you seem to think have more "training" than your average lawbiding armed citizens. Mr. Mayor, if the students are granted the right to carry concealed, your LEO's job will be made awhole lot easier, but you won't know that, because you are a politican....!!

The Campus Carry bill (Idaho House Bill 222) passed the Idaho House 41 - 28. Forty Republicans and one Democrat voted for it, and sixteen Republicans and twelve Democrats voted against it. The bill now goes to the Senate (most likely the Senate State Affairs Committee.)

You got our vote. I wish the would realize that its not the legal CCW you have to worry about, it's those who are illegal that concern must be directed towards.

Mayor Hall says If Im ever called upon to use those (skills), Ive had the training. Generally, the general public does not.

I'd say that is somewhat true...somewhat. While the general public may not have useful tactical training that officers receive, I'd say that most firearm owners use their guns enough to effectively know how to use them in a safe and controlled manor. I say most because we've all see cases where the person next to us at the range or firearms class is not paying attention and has no idea where the muzzle is pointed.
