This is a very disturbing item. It is too long to post the article. Also, the related links at the bottom of the article are very interesting too.

There are politics in dealing with courts, just as with a legislative body. And there are politics within a group of judges, as well.
I don't pretend to be a lawyer or be "on the inside" as far as analyzing cases which might go to the Supremes. What I do know is that they don't necessarily rule as expected--regardless of what is my own view on the subject.
I'm in accord that the 9th Dist.Ct.'s decision might well have been overturned. I'm surprised that the appeal didn't go forward to the full court, and then possibly to the Supreme Court, if that group would accept it for a hearing.
IOW, there's a second step before trying to get the case to SCOTUS--and SCOTUS might not accept it.
If it went to SCOTUS: As near as I can tell, just overturning that decision would not--repeat, not--necessarily mean that the Supremes would include in their decision any writing that would give a clear picture of the meaning of the Second Amendment. It would depend on who wrote the decision, and what they focussed on for their decision.
There are decisions by the inner circle of NRA bigwigs which sometimes seem less than wise. Hindsight is 20/20, and they know this as well as you or I. Regardless, they have some really bright legal tacticians who are giving their lives to stuff like this. I don't spend a lot of time in second-guessing--particularly on no more info than is commonly available.

In a word, Yes. The NRA has long since settled into allowing the erosion of our rights without a fight. Add in the willingness to deal farther on to the "slippery slope" when they do fight and you get a weak "pro-rights" group. The CCW battle in Ohio confirmed for me their uselessness. The training and safety programs they run are still top shelf and are the only reason I would continue a membership with them.

Sure.
Everyone and every organization is being screwed by everyone else and every other organization.
Or is it just the perception of that happening?
Hard to tell.

NRA's help in taking our rights is why I quit being a member of NRA.
Personally, I would rather support someone like Gary Gorski.

Chuck sincerely believes that the 9th Circuit is the wrong place to fight, plus he doesn't think Gary is all that good.
Gary (and the Shamaya/Puckett/Codrea faction) thinks Chuck is the anti-christ at this point.
Madness. It's ALL madness. Neither "side" is "evil"; both are in my opinion to some degree wrong.

No. What LaPierre and company are doing to us cannot be compared to "getting screwed" - it's more like foreplay. An example of an organization that is screwing us is the IRS.

The NRA is an organization that is run by its members. If you quit the NRA because you don't think they are pro-2nd enough, all you do is allow those who are willing to compromise your rights away to take the helm of the strongest and most respected RKBA group.

All I have to ask is this... What has Chuck done to protect my gun rights lately??
What law suits has he filed? What cases has he won?
Chuck is all talk... no results. He should sit down and let someone else take the helm...

You have got to be kidding. NRA is more interested in periodicals, suing over campaign finance reform, opening resturants, and farting around with filming television shows than it is interested in protecting RKBA.
What has the NRA done for me, as a PRK resident, lately? SQUAT. ZIP. ZILCH. ZERO. NADA. NIL. NOTHING.
What was the last suit NRA filed against a anti-gun law? When was the last suit they WON against PRK?
When NRA actualy shows me some results, then I will join again. Till then, they can do so w/o me and my funds. Just like your boss, I do not pay for promises, I pay for results!!!

This may be the ultimate in cynicism, but the NRA doesn't benefit that much from seeing you get back your rights, b/c they can drum each loss of rights as why they need even MORE money to fight against further errosion of gun rights. Circular argument, that. And the gravy train keeps rolling.
Same for WOD, what would all the cops in the DEA and on local DARE and vice squads do if they won it? No more asset forfeiture laws to exploit, unless they follow Detroit and county's lead of seizing the cars of johns picking up hookers.
Same for tax reform. Fewer loopholes mean lawyers, CPAs and IRS agents out of work.
Never expect major fundamental change.

So what organization do you belong to now and what results are they showing you that you find better than what the NRA has done?

Join all the other organisations you like, but stop trying to undermine the NRA.

Without the National Rifle Association it is very likely that our gun "rights" would closely resemble those of our democratic brethren.
That in and of itself is enough reason for me to keep supporting NRA.
In fact, I'm going there on Friday to shoot. I think I'll stop by ILA and write them a large check.
Meanwhile, everyone else please continue to run around in circles making hooting noises.

I for one think NRA is doing a good job given the task that they have been handed. They are not perfect, but who is. I put my money where my mouth is and became a Life Member many years ago.
