Was considering practicing with my non-dominant hand, I am right handed, so this would be shooting left handed. For shooting left handed, would I still use my right eye to sight, or switch to my left?

Curious what is the correct method.

Whatever works best for you is the correct method, I suppose. Since I don't have a dominant eye, I use the one on the same side that I'm shooting on. However, if I had a strongly dominant eye, then I might have to use it on both sides. Try it both ways to find out what works best for you.

Either learn to shoot with both eyes open or close your right eye when shooting with your left hand.

Simply keep both eyes open and turn your head slightly to the left until your right (dominent) eye is over the sights.

Trying to switch eyes if you are strongly dominant on one side is not very productive.

Just draw and present the gun smoothly and concentrate on your front sight as you push the gun out. Your brain will solve the problem for you!

A great many shooters find that they shoot handguns with their strong hand, but sighting with the dominant eye -- and they don't even realize they may be shooting cross-dominantly. It is with shotguns and rifles where the trouble starts. Most cross-dominant shooters do best when taught to shoulder the long gun on their dominant eye side.

I practice weak hand, handgun, shooting a fair amount.

I practice weak hand shooting using my right or left eye. The theory being, if my right hand isn't functioning, maybe my right eye isn't functioning either.

Then, if I were shooting left hand around a corner I'd be using my left eye to keep from exposing my whole head.

This would be for protection right. All of us should practice weak hand shooting. Does that mean you should change your primary hand ,NO. many of us are right hand /left eye or the other way around . Don't think to much about it and just shot. I have done this with pistols for 40 years. For rifles scope can adjust the eye piece to your "bad eye" so you can maybe shoot both eye open.

Cant the gun about 30-45-degrees to the right. Doing this will naturally align the sights with your right eye.

I have no problem consistently hitting bowling pins out to 35 yards using this method when I shoot with my non-dominant (left) hand.

If my dominant (right) eye is available I use it, except when I'm negotiating right side corners in close quarters, in which case I roll the gun 90-degrees to the left and use my left eye to sight down the side of the slide (or barrel if it's a long gun).

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes this is not a permanent change, just practicing.

Will give some of these suggestions a try. I normally shoot with both eyes open, but primarily focus with my right eye.

In IPSC and IDPA it's not uncommon to have to shoot a target or two from weak hand. When I do I use the same eye that I use when shooting strong hand. In my case I've got astigmatism worse in my right eye than my left so right or left handed I use my left eye as I can see the sights more clearly to the extent that I shoot a LOT better using my left eye. But both eyes stay open all the time.

For right (strong hand) shooting I just turn my head slightly as noted above. Then when shooting weak handed I don't need to turn it.
