Has anyone done any chrono work with the Winchester USA2232 ammo? 45 Gr HP loaded to a claimed 3600 fps and it runs $9 per 50 around these parts.
Not too shaby for a 223 if it's close to an honest velocity. I'm just wondering how optimistic that number is.

If it's the economy "White Box" it's quality can be iffy. Some people use it fine, but it's definatley make it go bang ammo instead of anything remotely match grade.

I've run a couple hundred rounds of this through my flattopped 20" HB AR15 and it will shoot, I've gotten five shot groups of under a half inch at a hundred yards and from what I can see shooting water filled soda containers expansion is explosive to say the least! I've never chrono'd any of it but it's so accurate I don't care how fast it's going.
I think I've used three different lot numbers with similar success.
YMMV

Oh, I've shot up about 8 boxes or so through a 10FP and my 700 Police. Crows (the only breathing animals I've ever shot with it) all but disappear. Not quite VMax levels of explosion, but pretty colorful.
I was just wondering how much they were lying about the velocity. One of the threads about varmint cartridges got me thinking about how much difference there is between the 223 and the 22-250 for those that just use factory ammo. I was thinking that most 50 advertised velocities for 50 Gr 22-250 was around 3,700 but looks like I am behind the times as Winchester claims 4,000 fps with a 45 Gr 22-250 in the same USA series ammo.
