All depends what you paid and if it has a Winchester barrel

Winchester barrel (ME-2,TE-3), receiver, bolt, uncut op rod, trigger, trigger housing, safety, hammer, stock. These I can identify for sure.

Mine is a Winchester Receiver and it has been arsenal refurbushed at least once if not more. It has a like new barrel but I haven't a clue who made it and I have not a clue how many times it has been refurbished. But it is in great shape now even though the gas tube is pitted and looks like it was sand blasted and re-finished. The one thing I don't like is the two tone stock. the butt stock is birch while the upper and end pieces are walnut. But remaining true to its blood like I have not replaced any parts including stock. Also, looking up the SN it shows it was made in 1942.

I paid the DCM (CMP) $121.96 for that puppy back in 1983. I had to qualify with a Garand before I got mine.

I paid $1700 for it which I think is an alright price. I like it a lot and that is what matters. I am confident that if I ever had to sell it I could get my money back.

You paid full retail, but it looks like you got your money's worth. :)

Wow. I'd be afraid to shoot it.

My CMP Field Grade on the other hand gets a lot of range time.

I'd say you got what you paid for, and you paid for what you got. It'll never be worth less than what you paid for it, unless you drag it behind your truck.

Nice one - love them Winchesters!

I think you did ok with it. Guys are paying $700+ for parts guns. It's very hard to find a matching rifle these day. It's just as hard to find one with the proper stock. The stock looks shinny. Is that oil or the finish?
Most reworked rifles don't have the locking bar sight. You might want to replace that with the new style and keep that locking bar around. The new style works a lot better.

People ask me all the time "Did I get a good deal?" My answer is, If you are happy with what you got for your money, then YES... You got a good deal. Any deal YOU are happy wit is a good deal.

It's kinda like the guy who is a bit under endowed, and he walks into a Brothel and strikes a deal. When they get back o the room and he drops his pants, his lady of choice begins to giggle. He says, "hey whats the deal?" she points at him and asks, "Who you gonna make happy with that?" He quickly replied.... "ME"... He was right

Not at all stating that you did not get a good deal. My point being, if you are happy, then who the heck else cares....

There will always be someone who will second guess, say you coulda, woulda, shoulda. Fact is you have a nice looking rifle at what is certainly fair market value.

As stated earlier in the thread, It will never go down in value, and only go up.

I own several Garands and I can tell you, I love them all. Go grab some surplus ammo, CMP had some for cheap, may still, in the enbloc clips, and go have a ball.

If this helps, I would have bought it.

Yep.

But - I'd be leery about paying that much and only taking the seller's word. I'd want to get some books out and open it up personally. His definition of "mostly Winchester parts" may be drastically different than mine.

Might want to change your sling around a bit to help prevent unintentional dings to the wood too.

I just saw a Winchester barreled receiver sell for $850 on another Forum. Thats just the barrel and receiver. I think I paid a fair price. I was just asking how you liked the Garand Not if I got a good price. Yes.......oil on the stock and metal. Oh.......I am quite versed in the value of Garands and Carbines. The value of just the uncut op rod is $500. WRA stock is $400 and up. Thanks guys.....:D

I have a Springer uncut op rod. I also have a WRA stock I got from e-gun parts when I ordered a stock for another M-1.

I also have a winny M-1 but the only thing Winny is the reciever and the stock I got from e-gun parts. I did not order the Winny stock, it's just what they sent me. Sounds to me I made out.

Nice looking rifle. I'm looking more for the shooter grade rifles than the collector grade, and you certainly bought a collector. Either way, looks great.

The CMP is selling some great looking Service Grade HRA M1 Garands right now. You may want to check them out. For the asking price some of the rifles look almost unused.

Oh I've got mine from the North Store already. Great shooter. Also picked up an 82G there. You certainly got a lot of rifle there.
