Thats right. Over the winter my pistols have gained weight and now I can't
hold them as steady as I did last year. This 68 yr old thing isn't what it's
cracked up to be. So I asked the 13 yr old daughter if I can use hers and she
is going to let Daddy use her little 32 cal. 2lb. pistol this year. Such is life

Pretty soon you'll have to move over to the crossed sticks on the offhand line.

I used to shoot cross sticks at Friendship. Now if I got down on the ground
somebody is going to have to load my rifle and hand it to me. Once I'm down
I'm staying for a while!

When I got to college, I tried out for the rifle team. At the close of the first practice the coach told us to go run a mile and then report to the weight room. HUH? Physical training to shoot a gun? Yep, he said. (A kind of Bohemian Philosophy Prof) Got to the point that my heart beat was down to less than 55 per minute at rest. When I strapped in and slinged that old Winchester 52 and stood offhand, the only thing that moved the muzzle was my heart beat. You learned breath control and how to shoot between heart beats. Every morning when I go out to the barn to feed and water the animals, I lift buckets of water and bales of hay, as if I was lifting weights to train to hold a rifle or pistol for competition.

I also recently got a TC Scout Pistol, which is a heavy SOB to hold out there with one arm, so I especially need the training now.

Just dawned on me, those guns haven't been getting enough exercise or the right food.

Time to put them on an exercise regimen and steady diet.

Get a 3-5 pound dumbell and start working out when your setting in your easy chair.
