They want my money? What I told the Rebublican Party...

Just got a begging letter from the GOP. Here's what I told them:
--------------------------
Dear Mr. Raciot,
We are in receipt of your request for financial support. As the Republican Party has no regard for the Constitution of our Country, does not seem to have a clue what it means to lead, and is obviously unable to learn from history, we will continue to support individual candidates who might be a help to our country, rather than merely tearing it down more slowly than the Democrats, like the ‘mainstream’ Republicans.
When the Republicrat Party stops being the party of Neville Chamberlain, we’ll start supporting you. Until then, you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
You need to call 1-800-RENT-SOME-GUTS*
[Mr. & Mrs. etc.]
*I’m being charitable in assuming that your Party’s problem is a lack of courage. Too often , it looks an awful lot like lack of integrity.
--------------------------
Yes, I could have spent more time on it and done a better job. And probably not gotten it done. Better the short letter you write than the 17 page diatribe that you don't.
Maybe if a few more of us would tell them....

It would probably help if you gave specific instances of the alleged abuses you're referring to. Otherwise, you just come off as some irritated yokel. When "wasting time" on letters, waste the time right. It need not be 17 pages if you use words right and reference your letter with footnotes as to the sources of your information. Inflammatory rants are discarded out of hand by nearly everyone who gets them.

Another irritated yokel here! Here is my response to RNC solicitations. Each time it is tweaked to suit recent events. Here is my 5th response.

RE: Your solicitation for Contributions
To Whom It May Concern;
I will contribute to the Republican Party, the Republican National Committee, and various other national organizations when a few changes are made. Until then I’ll support only individuals on a case by case basis.
--A clear definition of what Republicans stand for. I’m not talking about a slick direct mail piece. I’m talking about a thoughtful presence in the media where Republican proposals and positions are the premise. For far too long republicans are played off against a democrat proposal. I want to see leadership. I do not want to see a republican adopt a democrat’s idea. I want to see republican ideas that deal with controlling the federal government. I want to see republicans begin to limit their enthusiasm for legislative action to what is permitted by the Constitution and Bill of Rights. I want to see republicans return to the party of limited government.
--A change in senate minority (formerly Majority leadership) leadership must be made. Trent Lott may have done a good job in the past but over the last 3 years he has been an embarrassment. His performance during impeachment was pathetic. I hold Trent Lott responsible for the senate’s whitewash of Clinton’s criminal behavior. If you need something to refresh your memory, read “Sellout!” by David Shippers. The inability of Lott to stand up for the rule of law is more dangerous to the republic than Clinton’s criminal behavior. Mr. Lott may be consensus leader and therefore explain his position but he is ineffective in combating democrats. His “go along to get along” attitude is not what I want to see. I want to see principled leadership. I want to see someone with a clear sense of right and wrong; constitutional and unconstitutional.
--President Bush will have to act like a domestic leader. His performance as a war leader is unparalleled. His performance as a domestic leader is pathetic. I did not hire him to turn the domestic agenda over to democrats. George Bush XLI had to cave to democrats to get their support for the Iraqi war. Bush XLIII has no such need. In his desire not to pick a fight he has implemented numerous Clinton era actions which are harmful to freedom and liberty. I do not expect Bush XLIII to adopt democrat agenda points just to avoid a fight. I hired him to fight, not cave.
--Final point. I did not hire Bush XLIII to be a democrat in elephant skin. I hired him to stand up against the radical agenda promoted by democrats. He faces a divided congress and no doubt feels necessary to offer compromise. Pray tell me the value of hiring a republican president who is happy to enact 80% of a radical democrat agenda just to avoid a fight.
--Now the latest constitutional outrage apart from the Campaign Finance Control Act is the President’s Operation TIPS. Spin it any way you want; that proposal is over the top. In the upcoming senatorial election here in NC I’ll be voting Libertarian. My constitutional rights are not negotiable, regardless of our war status.
For years I’ve had a nagging feeling the republicans are not capable of governing. I’m close to deciding republicans are unfit to govern. I hope for the party’s sake that I’m only one extremist. Wouldn’t bet on it though.

Quartus

Nah, I sent it in the nice pre-paid envelope they included. :neener: :D
Yes, I could have done a much better job. You are all right. This was a lousy job. I can do a lot better.
But this one got sent. I just got home from a trip this morning, and I'm leaving tomorrow for Detroit. (yech!) So this got sent, and the terrific one I could have written, didn't because I don't have time right now.
So which is going to be more effective, gentlemen? 10,000 not very well done short notes that tell them they ain't getting money because they are screwing up, or 100 very well written letters that explain exactly how they are screwing up?
I hope a million gun owners take 60 seconds to write as poor a letter as I have! Or even a postcard!

Short and to the point. No problem with it here. It doesn't matter if you give them an itemized list with references anyway. The only part they will pay any attention to is financial support . They already know what they are doing wrong and obviously don't give a crap what we think about it. They didn't write to you asking your opinion, they wrote asking for money . Oh, and good letter Waitone.
