My Siamese cat Hannibal and my pre-conversion Saiga .223. Good thing I never had to rely on that cat for varmints, though. As big and fat as he is, he just doesn't notice anything below a certain size, that size typically being about the size of his food bowl.

, but the first kitty could be attached to the gun as a bayonnet. Nice Claws...

Cats need claws? Don't tell our last cats that because they were declawed in the front. Arwen & Mithrandir were Tabbys of unknown origins and strays my parents picked up right before I was born. Arwen was a skinny tuxedo tabby and Mithrandir was so big he could pass for a raccoon. Arwen died of kidney failure when she was 14. Mithrandir died from the benzene tainted cat food that went around in 2007, he was 20.

When they were 13yrs old we had a German Shepherd & a Rotwiler that belonged to our neighbors roaming the neighborhood chasing & biting people and livestock. One day these two dogs walked up to our back porch and the door was open but the screen pulled to. Mithrandir was sunning himself in the opening when they walked up. He started barking at them, which drew Arwen to the door and she started screeching at them. This in turn got my attention, which lead me to go get my pellet rifle and pellets. As I opened the screen to get the rifle barrel out the door, our cats jumped on the dogs. Arwen tore into the German Shepherd with her hind claws and teeth, scratching up its face and drawing blood from both ears & several spots on the face. Mithrandir had to have been part lion because he was swinging his front paws at the Rot with a vengeance, landing several audible thumps to its head dropping it to the ground and then he tore in on its neck with his mouth and bite the dog so bad he made it squeal like a stuck pig several times. The dogs beat a hasty retreat and our cats returned to sunning themselves inside the screen door.

Now, to put these dogs & our cats into context. These dogs had scared every other dog in the neighborhood including 3 St. Bernards & a Great Dane. They chased horses & cows with ease. Ours cats were lounge lizards and afraid to meet any new human visitors. If it involved something beyond the food bowl, potty, or sleeping in someones lap count them out.

I'm sure we have all heard of "hunting dogs" but when I was farming back in North Dakota, I had a "hunting cat." Blackbirds are a scourge of the earth for sunflower farmers (I lost about 50% of my yield on one sunflower field to those SOBs) so killing those damn things was great sport and something I could write off on my taxes at the same time. We had one female calico barn cat that found that gunfire equals an easy meal and every time I stepped out of the house to shoot blackbirds out of the trees, she was right there waiting for the bodies to hit the ground! Great hunting partner. LOL

AR27: Is your kitty training to liberate Libya?

Ole Humpback: Somebody should have told the dog's owners that they would be shot next time they threatened somebody.
I jog with a knife (4" serrated blade) hidden in my waistband, both in the neighborhood and on the Shelby Farms dirt trails, though people always keep G. Shephards, Dobies etc chained or on a leash.

You had some very brave cats. They must have been the "Band of Cats", whether with the 101st, 82nd Airborne, etc.

Sorry to say my cat, pictured on the first page, passed away in March, after 18 long happy years. RIP old buddy.:(I am so sorry to hear that. He looked like my first cat, Riley. Riley never got to live a long life and died in a tragic home accident. Two of my subsequent cats lived 13 years, Meatball, a gorgeous Seal/Chocolate point, and Gunner, a Blue Mink Tonkinese. We took all their deaths quite hard. Sometimes it seems the only way to prevent this pain is to not have animals. But you then deprive yourself of all those years of unconditional love. I hope my 16 YO Tonk, Max still has a few good years left in him, but he seems quite happy and even takes at times to chasing his little charge, Kaylee, around the house.

Remember the good times.

I'm inclined to think that anyone who loves to hunt has to at least appreciate a cat.

I'm intrigued by the duality of the cat. I've always found it interesting that the same creature that was curled up in my lap purring one minute will be mercilessly biting the head off a mouse in the basement a few minutes later.

Or the same cat that lures you into petting it by laying upside down and then wraps its claws around your ankle hahaha.

Glad to see many cat owners here. I love dogs too but a cat perplexes me with its general aloofness and attitude. Interesting creatures.

And a total cliché.

In my house, the 210 lb Mastiff is just the alarm system; Ava is the real defender. 9 pounds of fury right there!

Well the internet already has plenty of images of girls with guns. Cats and guns is more unique idea.

Love this thread. This little guy isn't with us anymore and I hate it. I loved that cat.
Now we have a female Persian. I'll have to get one with her and a gun.

I just got one with my cat. I've been trying to break in my new holster by carrying my empty gun around the house. Got sick of it so I took it off.

Two seconds later:

Picture of my cat F.B. on "zombie watch" or bird watch. She loves looking at those stupid mocking birds and she knows better than to chase them.

Can I borrow one of your cats????

Last May 27th, our Irish Wolfhound pup decided to rearrange the livingroom a little while we slept upstairs.

What really gets me is when I woke up my wife was sitting there nonchalantly working on her laptop.

She heard me come down the stairs, looked up, and said "your dog made a mess." (She really emphasized the first word, too).

She's a cat person.

(EDIT: These pics are still on topic as if you follow the cat's gaze in the first pic, you'll see a gun barrel sticking out behind the wooden cubby on top of the TV stand.)

My cat will let out a strange meow every time the action on a gun is worked ---she can be in another room or dead asleep and it will still happen --she's done that since a kitten and has never seen or heard a gun being fired--other than on tv--she just knows somethings up.
