I have a 10" BB 223 contender with a Leupold scope for a varmint gun (too big for the scanner and no pics). It will outshoot most bolt action rifles, a lot of gun really.

What grips are those? How do you like the Volquartsen V-Comp? Very nice looking gun!

Here is my MKII - I have fired this gun more times than any other gun I have owned. Very accurate - used it to win a few pistol leagues. Has been to Clark for the trigger. Always fun to shoot.

JMLV's got the right idea. Definitely one of the best fun-guns around.
Shooting an Automag III is like driving a fine sports car on the freeway: it's got corner-hugging velvety smoothness, but it leaves you in no doubt that you're controlling a powerhouse.
Of course, AMT's being AMT's, it helps if you have have a good one that's accurate and reliable. (I've heard of at least one A-M-3 that simply refused to shoot factory ammo accurately.) Mine is simply a delight, which makes it a favorite.
And the blast IS impressive. I overheard one guy tell his friend that I was shooting a "fancy one-off custom 1911 in 9 x 25 Dillon that must have cost a couple grand." ;)
Nope. $300, cash and carry. I explained and let 'em shoot it. They both thought it was the cat's pajamas and both resolved to buy one if they could. :D

Thanks, its a real tackdriver too! I got the grips at a gunshow. I see some very similar ones at www.handgungrips.com . Mine would be their Ultima Target grips with thumb rest on the left and a palm rest on the right side.
The V-comp does reduce what little muzzle flip there is. But it will not make it so the recoil feels as if it only goes straight back into your hands. I think the weight probably does more than anything else but.......it was the only thing I hadn't added to the Mark 2 yet. :D

Here's my .22 caliber plinker—assuming the picture goes through.
My most accurate .22 caliber pistols are High Standards, but I haven't taken any photographs of them recently, since they live in a bank box.

My little plinker.
Thompson Encore .223, 15" barrel, Burris 2X7 Handgun scope with Burris rings. Half inch groups at 100 yards!! :D

Sorry about that. Tried to change the attached file to a better image, but the editor won't let you delete, and then add a new attachment!!!

Encore sounds great! I have a Contender. The picture shows the 357 barrel installed which is not really a plinker but it has good acccuracy - shows a 50 yd 5 shot target.
But I do have a couple of Contender 22lr match barrels which display rifle like accuracy.

Hey Bill - how about this? Gives a little better view of that nice Encore!

Yoda,
Thanks, that's a much brighter image, and it still makes my perfectly round barrel look just like an octagon. :D
Nice Contender! Sure wish my .357 revolvers would shoot groups like that! :)
I debated for quite a while before getting the Encore. Figured the wider caliber selection might come in handy when selling, and that the Contenders would probably be discontinued eventually, because of the safety system.
Turned out to be the right decision I think, and I lucked out and got one with a great trigger, and excellent accuracy, right out of the box. :D
I've never actually hunted with my Encore, but we are going to visit eastern Colorado in June, so I hope to help some of the local ranchers reduce the prairie dog population by a fraction.
I'm originally from St. Louis, but my late father retired in Evansville, so we haven't been back to IN since they passed away about ten years ago.

Bill - yeah I also noticed the barrel no longer appeared round! I used to live in St.Louis also - back in the late 60's and early 70's. Was close to Forest Park - remember actually being close enough to walk to the Zoo. I still visit MO a few times a year since a lot of my relatives are still in the St. Louis area.

Here is a few of my favorite Rat Killers. The .454 is for bigger rats.

Yoda,
Don't remember what lighting was used, but it sure played visual tricks with the Encore barrel. :D
Small world, eh? :)
I also lived just a few blocks south of the zoo on Louisville Ave, one block south of Clayton. My grandmother lived just north of the zoo, on Waterman Blvd.
Still have family there, but we haven't been back to visit in over ten years.
Billy,
Great looking guns there!
What kind of varmints do you shoot with the .454?
