My roommate has a friend who is selling a Mossberg 500 pump 20 ga. The seller is only looking to get about $200 out of it. I just want to know: is this a good shotgun, what I should look for when I check it out. Any and all advice/input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Good price if it's in good shape. great shotguns. Easy to work on. Very reliable.

Things to look for.

1. make sure it's unloaded :)
2. make sure everything works; i.e., safety, trigger reset, bolt lock/unlock
3. no cracks in stocks, etc.

Not much more to it IMO. Good luck

I bought one at wal-mart two years ago for about $220.00 so if it is like new condition $200.00 not bad, especially if it has real wood stocks as opposed to the faux-wood stocks.

In a private sale $175 would buy that gun around here. The Mossberg 500 is certainly a fine shotgun, but as mentioned they often sell new for $225 - $235 at big retail stores.
