Just got my Pre-27.
Here it is with $25 Herrets grips off of Gunbroker:

90% improvement, I'd have given you 100 if they had been back on the Smith, you just have to take the hit not having them shown where they belong.

Nice job, they really look good.

Those are well designed grips (note the uncovered backstrap, the extra filling material above and behind the trigger guard and lack of sharp, abrasive checkering), and your woodworking skills make them even better. :) I do have a concern that the refinishing might make them "slippery."
