First, please don't make posts about how good MIM parts are in the new Smith and Wesson revolvers. I have my reasons for wanting to replace them with either forged or machined from solid steel.

Has anyone here heard of or had any experiences with the hammers made and sold by Apex Tactical Specialties?

https://apextactical.com/store/product-list.php?pg1-cid4.html

Thanks

JJ

What use would you put the gun to?
When I talked to Lee about his revolver hammers, he told me he intended them for competition use.
If you're looking for defense, I'd call & talk to him for his opinion.
He'll give you the straight story, and his products & services are highly regarded.

$150+ after shipping just to say no MIM...BIG waste of money IMO. Should have bought an older model if you don't like the lock. Heck, sell your MIM gun and buy an older dash model with no MIM, no lock, and hammer mounted firing pin(they way a revolver should be)...you won't lose $150 on the deal either :)

Having said that, I have their sear and fring block upgrades in my M&P pistols, that product is excellent...no experience with any of their other parts.

I have taken enough metal out of my own S&W MIM 625 hammer so the lock does not work, its hollowed out pretty thin where strength is not needed.
Not hard to do with a carbide cutter and a vice. Remove the hammer spur while you at it.
New S&W hammers costs about $50.00.
Don't forget Colt revolvers had internal firing pins. Charter Arm too!
The new S&W firing pin has been very good to me. I see no problem with the internal design.

Before I bought a new gun and spent extra money on top of that to replace internal parts, I would get an older used revolver; there are plenty of them out there. I know, you're not me. ;)
