Harris left me hanging...

I'm in the market for a bipod and have been doing the research and trying to figure out which is the best option for me. I'm leaning towards the Harris brand but whenever the 'which height' question gets asked on forums the responses seem too vague for me to make a decision (about all I've concluded is that the 6 to 9 is great for bench shooting). So in an attempt to answer this I sent the following e-mail to Harris:

To Whom it may concern;

Do your bipod labels (6" to 9", 9" to 13", etc) correspond to the actual height (ie, distance from underside of forend to ground/bench). Or is the measurement the actual length of the legs and the actual height something other than what it is labeled? I am trying to determine which bipod will suit my needs and would like to a 'mock-up' befor purchasing.

Thanks,

I sent this e-mail on March 15th, and have yet to receive a response. To me this is a pretty simple question that shouldn't take 4 weeks to answer, and as such has me a little turned off to Harris (am I being too critical?). Anyway anyone know the answer to this question it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

My bipod isn't a Harris but its a 6"-9" and its from the underside of the forearm to the bench. However I am not sure which height is best for what. But for me 6" is good for prone and 9" is good for bench. Hope that helps you

Thanks for the information. That is exactly what I was looking for.

The best bipod is the Atlas V8, but the Harris bipods are great quality and very affordable. I have a Harris that has had the piss beat out of it, and it still mostly works. The legs don't always stay extended, but I've had the Harris for 10 years, so it's doing very well, considering.
I would recommend that you get the BR-S model. The 6-9" height is ideal for most shooters, and the swivel is a very nice feature to have to keep the rifle as level as possible.
