S&W DAO Lockwork Variations - Identifying

I understand that some SW semis are true DAO in the sense that every time you pull the trigger it cocks and releases the hammer

vs.

other SW semis which use different lockwork with a "preset" hammer, where during dry firing or on a dud round you have to "cock" the hammer by cycling the slide (however slightly).

Question is, how to tell which SW DAO's use which lockwork without actually physically handling a particular specimen? Are certain model numbers one or the other or does S&W have some other kind of code for identifying this?

Thanks.
