Which would you buy? What are pros and cons with them?

Depending on the SKS you buy, you know it's designed and built to "mil-spec." WASRs (depending on vintage) vary wildly in quality.
The SKS should be more accurate out of the box. WASRs take AK magazines. The SKS is a heavier rifle. SKS can be fitted with Tapco 20 round magazines and sporterized, or kept stock and reloaded from stripper clips.
I bought an SKS over a WASR because I don't intend on using an AK to clear my house (7.62x39 in a dense suburb = bad joojoo). The SKS is fine as an outdoors, do-it-all kind of rifle. If you can find a good, clean WASR, it should do everything that any AK can do (minute-of-man at 150 yards). Both rifles are easy to maintain. WASRs are built from stamped receivers. The majority of SKS rifles are built from milled receivers. This probably won't make much of a difference to you.
Some SKS models (the later Norinco models) take AK magazines. I say get whichever one feels better in your hands. The SKS rifles will probably continue to increase in cost as supplies start to dwindle, whereas Century will import WASRs until whenever Cugir Arsenal in Romania decides to stop making them.

I have one of each.
The AK is a little handier, while the SKS is more rifle-y.
The SKS is a little more pleasant to shoot but mine has been less reliable than I had hoped for. (about 1/3 of the time, the last round jams)
My WASR-10 has been 100% for more than 2,000 rounds.

Alright so the WASR, for what it is and what you pay for is a reasonable rifle?

I have a WASR and several Russian SKS's. Both shoot about 3 MOA. Both are worth about $400. The Russian SKS is C&R and the WASR isn't C&R.
I have never had a misfire with either firearm.
I have had other SKS's in the past and was not as impressed with them as I am with the Russian one.
Other than the higher cartridge capacity of the WASR, I don't think you can go wrong with either. I can load my SKS with a stripper clip as fast as I can put in another magazine in the WASR.

The SKS used to be a lot cheaper. Not so today. I would get the AK. If you get the SKS just keep it in stock condition. Mods dont always work correctly.

not to sound like a ******bag JAWN but both the sks and ak shoot the 7.62x39 round.
personally i"d go with the sks. the wasr isnt really an ak but the sks is really an sks.

@remover - Where did I say otherwise? I was just saying that I was okay with the size of the SKS because I know I won't be clearing a house with it.

I would lean ever so slightly to WASR. If I was in the market for one, that's what I would do. That said, I've got both and agree with the comment that the sks is more "rifle-y".
To me the difference is a little accuracy in favor of the sks and detachable magazines in favor of the wasr.
