I bought a new rem 870 turkey gun last spring and being a lefty I was wondering if the safety (the new style with the locking mechanism)
could be reversed to accomodate a left handed shooter?
Thanks,
Mike

Funny you should mention that...
I have spoken to a fellow member whom shares my thoughts on that locking safety. Seems we both were able to "disable" the gun , lock up the safety - without a key.
IMO, get rid of that locking safety. * ahem* it is a shame yours "broke" and all your gunsmith had was the "old style" and being a lefty and all, and being the "responsible safe hunter you are". Gunsmith installed a new LH safety for you. ;)

Remington is discontinuing this feature on their centerfire rifles and will sell relplacement kits as complete kits. They are also supposedly discontinuing on their shotties and I would expect them to offer replacement kits for the 870 as well. Check the Remington site.
