I have only been reloading for 6 months or so. I pick up a lot of range brass. The place I get 90% of my brass I know is once fired and I got 400 pieces of RWS 45acp large primer brass. I seen the boxes they say match grade on them. Does this load up well? I usually find a lot of cbc,win,rp,pmc but this is the first I've found of RWS i dont even know who makes it. I hope its good. Maybe its just cause it might be expensive

I've got a fair amount of them in 9mm, but haven't gotten around to reloading them yet. Haven't run across them in .45ACP though.

A quick google shows RWS seems to be the brass to get for rifle brass.

RWS is superb brass. Every bit equal to Lapua.

I've been googling it, they say the rifle brass is great. I just wondered if anyone has reloaded the 45acp though. Looks like it will be good though. Just never ran accross it yet.

Yes I've reloaded a few range finds in 45ACP. What I noticed is that the cases are a little more difficult to remove from the flaring/charging die. Other than that, they're fine.

'geco' marked brass is from the same group, as is ruag - all part of parent company dynamit nobel

Did you check the flash holes? I have some "DAG" dynamit nobel luger NATO ammo. Same manufacturer as RWS. The flash holes are some small European spec. It's good brass after the holes are reamed.

Nope, I havent had a chance to start loading them yet, I tumble with the primers still in. Im running a few thousand 38 special now, when Im done with that i'll go back to the 45. Hopefully they work out well. I'll compare them to my Winchester brass and see the difference. Hopefully though the 45 flash holes are big enough. I've never really figured out the difference in match brass vs non. Maybe cause i've never had a match barrel, and Im a paper plate kinda guy with handguns. If its on the plate, Im happy.

Well, make sure you check before you try to decap. If it's the small hole, your decapping pin will either back out or break.

But boy, the brass sure looks nice. The heads are perfectly smooth and have a slight radius towards the rim, as if they were machined on a lathe and polished. I've been hoarding them. Reaming out the flash hole on each one is a pain, but at least I know they're once-fired.

Well, I decided to break into this box of missouri bullets I have and see about this RWS brass. It had the same size flash hole "by the eye" as winchester. So I deprimed RWS, WINCHESTER, and SPEER and looked at all of them. From the naked eye I cant tell any difference between the RWS and win. The speer is huge compared to the other two. Only problem I got is now going to be my next post.

Well, ne'er mind. I just googled "DAG" 9mm, and I'm coming up with "Dynamit Aktien Gessellschaft (DAG)," in Germany.

I bought it from Ammotogo, sometime last year. They had it advertised as Dynamit Nobel, made in Switzerland. 124 FMJ, ferrous jacket. About the same time, RWS was hitting the shelves at Wally World, with a 124 gr FMJ, ferrous jacket. I figured it was the same company.

IF I had a batch of RWS brass I sure wouldn't degrade them like that.
The flash hole on this DAG brass is really, really, small - 1.35mm, or so. My decapping nail is 1.37mm at the base, and I had to pry it out of the flash hole after each decap.

I've reloaded the brass in 9mm. Has worked good for me. Looking forward to some RWS in .45 acp. :)
