Wow I got my Synthetic Hard Use Grips today in the mail. A little lighter in color then what I thought when I ordered from the website, but WOW!!!!

Take a look at this!

Is that a G10 kind of thing?

The grips are made of linen micarta. He also has gloss black checkered grips made Westinghouse micarta. Both are tough as hell.

I contacted Burns to see why I had grips that were lighter then the website ones. Since it came with no directions nor invoice when I got the grips, I emailed him wondering if I got the right grips.

Yes they were the right ones. I just needed to add some oil or WD-40 to darken them.

So I rubbed in some FP-10 and added some stainless steel screws. I am a happy camper!

The grips look nice. Did they darken up much when you rubbed the oil in.:)

Nice to see some different 1911 grips for a change. While I love exotic wood, the checkered double-diamond ones everybody sells are so ubiquitous they're really starting to get old.

I actually like the light grey color. Pretty sweet in that shade.

Looks like a cotton phenolic (which is a variant of linen Micarta).

This material will absorb some water and perspiration, and can turn greenish over time. On the plus side it should resist slipping in sweaty/stressful situations quite well.

G10 (actually, FR10 these days) is a stronger material but costs more, and is much tougher on machine tools.

Here is the second picture. I took the gun out on a date last night. She did really well. Not as grippy as the stock grips but very managable to shoot!

Here is the second picture.

Ok guys, how come I am not seeing any pics here ? When this thread first appeared I WAS seeing the original pic. (By the way, I liked the gray look and tried to check out BCP page for some more)
