Have I been assimilated?!

Please consider this an alarmed confession from a self-confessed
conservative. A while back I was attending a High-school orientation
with my boy. When the chearleaders and marching
squad came out to show off, they had their parade rifles with
them to use as part of the show. I could not believe I was
initially shocked and dismayed to see them with the (non-functional)
rifles. I guess in todays world I'm just not used to seeing kids
with guns. I preach NRA and 2nd Amendment and take my boy
hunting and shooting on a semi-regular bases (Even bought him
his own AR). Once I got over the initial suprise, I found myself
appreciating the fact that the school still uses this in their program.
I feel disappointed in myself and feel I have been tainted by
media bias. Anybody else been slapped in the face by self-
realization? Guess I need to spend more time on this forum
as therapy.
Just looking for a shoulder to cry on (in a macho, manly, sort of
way, of course
:D.

What you saw, is the way it ought to be. Our society has been PC'd over.

No you have not neither! Sometiimes things just jolt us back to a clearer appreciation of what is truly going on. As for manly crying....try missing a ten pointer with a bad shot...that'll make any fella cry......

Nice post.
You have escaped assimilation by the forces of darkness.
Now you will be assimilated by the forces of liberty.
Rejoice! :neener:

You noticed the rifles. So the skirts were very long?;)

Probably a natural reaction. We are over-whelmed by a very vocal majority, their rhetoric well memorized by alot of us. More a "knee jerk" reaction rather than a true one.
By the way, was it a private or public school?

I would say that you have been successfully indoctrinated, but not assimilated. You're awareness of the brainwashing will save you.
Resistance is NOT futile, it is REQUIRED.
Hang in there Dude!!!

Thanks for the support guys! This was actually at a public school.
I wonder how they get aroung their zero tollerance rules:confused: .
I shall continue to resist with the aid of my
support group. Oh, and the skirts weren't that long... There were
many aspects of the program I felt required, er, ah, analyzing.
Must stay aware of our surroundings because, uh, survival requires
it :D .

My first thought on seeing a Springfield drill rifle: "Oh, my God! They've welded the bolt shut! Those heathens."
I was in therapy for weeks after.

If I remember correctly, some high school JROTC programs still had parade guns that they practiced with on school grounds back when I did my time in the public high school system ('92-'96). They were still non-functioning weapons, but once real guns. Now I think that they probably use the all wood look-alike rifles that are painted totally white. I'll have to take a look this Mardi Gras and see which high schools are using what in their programs.

My son is in the Air Force JrROTC at a public school. They still have non-functional (what a shame) Garands as parade rifles. I refinished a few of the stocks for 'em last summer.
I'll keep an eye open at the Mardi Gras parades too. Might be interesting.

You ARE in Texas!!! I would expect nothing less. That's why I miss Texas.

They even do it in Montgomery County Maryland! I'm surprised no one here has started a movement to ban the ROTC from using even neutered rifles.
It's a grand sight seeing a responsible kid with a gun.
