I have an Ultra-Hi cap lock that I am trying to find out about. It is a .45 cal made in Italy, date code is 1975. What can anyone tell me about the quality of this gun, and what style is this? Who made it? I thought all Ultra-Hi's were made in Japan. I'm confused :)
Here are the pics.
Is it worth keeping, and if so should I restore it or leave it alone?

That looks like a handsome Kentucky rifle which usually have a barrel length of 33" - 35", having an attractive unitary one piece stock rather than the more common two piece stock that's joined in the middle, and a nicely shaped patchbox.
Is the rifle actually marked .45 or could it be a .44?
Euroarms once made a .44 Kentuckian rifle and also a shorter 27.5" carbine version.
It looks to be a fairly good quality gun that was probably made by a major well known maker.
The barrel appears that it could benefit by being reblued/browned but the stock looks pretty good as it is unless you're really hankering for a refinishing project.
What to do with it could depend on the condition of the bore, how well it shoots and how much that you like it.

Yes it is .45 cal., and the rifling is good. I pulled the breech plug, and inspected everything. There isn't any pitting, and the rifling is standing proud. I was looking at it again today, and noticed a mark of some sort that I had previously over looked. I'm not sure if it means anything or not. I am thinking of refinishing the barrel, and maybe wet sanding the stock and buffing it out. I would like to change the brass for steel, if I can find some close enough t fit. Any ideas are welcomed, as this will probably become a project gun.
Hard to tell,is it a B with a P or some type or a D with an elongated P.Kinda looks like a Davide Pedersoli stamp, but ive never seen one like this before.Looks "somewhat" like an early ASP/Euroarms stamp.Yes,the AA indicates a 1975 manufacture code and the star is a proof mark.

That is a nice looking little rifle! If it were mine it would be a "keeper" for sure.
