Why post a thread asking us if we've seen something and not provide a picture?

The project has been abandoned for now, AFAIK. Air bursting grenades are a good idea. A 20lb abomination, with an overlarge launcher, with a 10" 5.56mm submachine gun strapped to it is not.

the thing would probably have worked if they made it have selectable feed and fielded a shot round.

I think the grenade launcher portion had a lot of potential. Personally i wouldnt like to be the guy firing airburst munitions from my shoulder but, it would make a fine stand-alone weapon. I bet we havent seen the last of that concept for quite some time.

Yes, the XM29 has been shelved in favour of the separate development of the rifle and the grenade launcher, until such time as the weight can be reduced to 15 lbs from the current 18 lbs.

The 5.56mm will of course be the XM8, the self-loading grenade launcher will be the XM25, with the calibre increased from 20 to 25mm to improve effectiveness. The projectiles are likely to be the same as the OCSW's but the cartridge case will be smaller to reduce the muzzle velocity.
