I love mine but the grips suck. A good rubber pair of Pacmyers make it much more comfortable.

I bought mine new in 1983, tried a set of Pacmyers but did not like them, tried a set of Hogue's, then put the stock grips back on and I liked them the best! Tried a set of express sights (Shallow V rear w/ a gold dot front) Hated them, put the stock sights back on. I have a Leupold M8-2X, but prefer the irons. I did give it a trigger job. Fantastic shooter BTW.

NEVER sell it.

Mines a .44 Mag! Dont intend to sell !

Where have I seen that before?

At first, the grips don't seem like much. But they are shaped perfectly. Mine came on Pachmayrs, but they didn't do much for recoil, and they are ugly, IMO. If you want the Pachmayrs, they're all yours. Just send me $5 for shipping, and I'll drop them in a flat rate box for you.

That scope mine came with was a 4X, and it was too much. I traded even up for a silver 2.5X. The magnification was about right, but it made an already heavy gun REALLY heavy. I just took it off again next week. If I ever get the urge to take it deer hunting again, I may re-mount it.

It really is just perfect as it came out of the box. Super accurate.

I have one bit of bad news for you: You won't get the most of it unless you take up handloading. Shooting light Special level loads out of 44 Magnum cases is really rewarding. It is a super-accurate gun. Hand loading will save you a mint on this gun. Last I checked, .44 Magnum is $35 a box. .44 Special is a lot too, and harder to find. I load a box for around $11, and it is more accurate than factory. Just something to think about if you find yourself wanting to shoot it more but can't afford it. ;) A box of Magnums is a bit more, since they use 3X the powder and I use better bullets. Maybe $15 a box.

I'm looking forward to the range report. In particular, be sure to savor the reactions of the folks next to you when you touch off that first magnum round. I know, I'm a jerk for taking a bit of guilty pleasure in that, but I do nonetheless. :D When I'm shooting and someone touches off a magnum next to me, I think: "Dammit, how am I supposed to shoot with that concussion going on 4 ft. from my head!? I get the sight picture just right, then BOOOOM and I'm back to square 1. :cuss: "

Yes, resist the urge to sell it. The Super Redhawk is a lesser gun, in my opinion. Really ugly, with that extended frame and the barrel just looks kind of tacked-on. :barf:
