No amount of pressuring is gonna change Quinn's mind, he already said he was going to veto it if it reaches his desk.:fire:

Being that he's a Chicago-blooded democrat, I'd highly doubt he would change his mind. Heck, we gotta better chance of pigs flying.

HB148 needs 71 votes to preempt home rule, per the IL Constitution. 71 votes also overrides a Governors veto.

Downstate Dem's are taking a stand on a bi-partisian bill that has the support of the Sheriffs, Chiefs, Sergeants, and Lieutenants.

This bill has been let out of committee countless times now by Madigan.

This bill will pass the Senate if it clears the House.

If we take the House, we have the votes to override the veto.

CALL, EMAIL, AND FAX. There is everything to gain.

For once I hope We get the 3/5ths vote in the House. May the Gov. and Madigan go pout in a corner like spoiled little Brats, that they are!!! If the bill passes, you bet the Gov. and Madigan will want to spend the money this bill will bring in. I hope there is a way the Gov can't touch any of the extra funds this will bring for Our State.

Fellow Americans wish us luck. Our house is in session right now. HB148 hasn't come up yet though.

Vote came down, 65 yays, 71 needed.

During the debate the point was made that either they pass it now or get it shoved down their throats through SCOTUS.

Guess we know which way it's coming.

Disappointment that's for sure.

Though the big question is.....what now? Will this bill be banished to the dusty old back room, or perhaps go straight to the drawing board for a re-vamp?

The vote was set to postponed consideration which means we can have another crack at it. About 20 reps DIDNT EVEN VOTE! They left the chamber!

If we can't win by the rules we're gonna have to do it the hard way.

I am getting more and more fed up with this state. Between taxes and now this I am trying to get out of here. I am going to buy all my fishing and shooting stuff out of state or online from now on. I urge everyone to do the same and pass the word out to not support this state with your money!
Where can I find how the vote went...like who was a yes or no vote. I checked the states website but didnt see that.

There's little to rewrite. The bill was rewritten several times to address the concerns of law enforcement and universities already, it's a darned good bill.

The simple fact is that Chicago wants unarmed subjects and the city has enough sway to screw over the rest of us. Only 1 rep south of I-80 voted "No".

technically there was no vote due to a parlimentary maneuver. As a practical matter, it is probably dead until a few reps get replaced or turned from the dark side.

Any positive course of action possible at this point or have they maneuvered this onto a siding?

On the ISRA site, they have a screen cap of the vote tally.

http://www.isra.org/alerts/alert_hb148_tally_05062011.html

With consideration postponed, there is still time to get additional support and request another vote before they adjourn for the summer (end of the month).

Rep. Scacia has stated that this is going to hit the house floor again by the end of the month.

Good

In the face of that which of the "NO" voters and which of the walkouts can be turned to "Yes" so that folks can focus their attention on those individuals?

I am very suspicious of what went on. I am not sure just who is playing games with whom, but I strongly suspect some kind of political game being played on someone.

I have to say I was pretty amused this morning. I was flipping through channels and landed on the show "Gangland" that was profiling Chicago's Satan's Disciples. One of the members being interviewed stated "Chicago is a gangster town, it will always be a gangster town and will never be safe." These are the people who want to keep us unarmed so they can exploit us and they are more strongly represented in this state than we are. It just makes me sick to my stomach. I am starting to lean towards carrying anyway and defending my second amendment right in the courts if need be. I will not visit Chicago and spend my money there if I can help it. I have been a Bears fan since childhood but rethinking that too since they call Chicago home. If it weren't for big yellow down here in Peoria then I would be out of this state.
