Does anyone know where I can get crime statistics for the weeks before, during, and after the NRA show in Pittsburgh?

For what geographic area? Pittsburgh? America?

Just Pittsburgh itself.

No idea. So what are you trying to ascertain from the information?

Perhaps this will help: http://ucr.psp.state.pa.us/UCR/Reporting/RptMain.asp

Viewing crime rates in terms of weeks will lead to misleading and inconclusive results. It's too narrow a period, and in statistical terms, too narrow a sample size. to glean any useful information.

Sample size is definitely a concern of mine, but according to the website that Librarian suggested, there seems to be a sharp decrease in crime overall from Mar – Apr 2011, as opposed to a relatively “normal” amount of change in previous years. Any idea what was so special about 2011, other than the NRA convention in a major city? Maybe all of the crime in Apr hasn't been reported yet?

Who knows? Could just be a quiet month. There is no causal (not casual) evidence, to my knowledge, to support the contention that the NRA convention had an effect on crime rates in any but the most attenuated ways.

I do note that I have never heard of anyone shooting up an NRA convention. Just saying. :)

From Librarian's link...

* Information on this system is subject to continual edit, *
* and should not be considered complete until the Annual *
* Report is compiled. *

The Annual Report is not yet compiled.

As I asked before, "Maybe all of the crime in Apr hasn't been reported [to the statisticians] yet?"

But yeah, I think we’ve all noticed that no one shoots up gun shows, but gun free zones seem to be shooting galleries (schools, post offices...). I’m just surprised that convention planners don’t’ seem to track / publicize how their shows impact cities, in terms of bringing in hotel / restaurant customers, and whether crime goes up or down.
