Yesterday afternoon I was handling the new S&W 1911. Very nice. Today (Sunday) at 1:06pm Central time, I'll be talking with Dick Metcalf, of Shooting Times magazine, about that new gun, and a number of other new handguns.
Unfortunately, we picked this weekend to move the www.guntalk.com web site which was on Shooters.com.
Try www.guntalk.net (not com).
Also, you can call in to the radio show and ask Dick what he thought of the Smith 1911 (he just completed an extensive test).
The call-in number is 1-866-TALK-GUNS. That's 1-866-825-5486.

Hello Tom,
What kind of groups did Dick Metcalf get with the S&W 1911?
Is the frame forged, or cast? What about the slide?
Are they using MIM parts?
My schedule prevents me from tuning in to your show today, so perhaps you can fill us in after the show.
Thank you.

Saw a picture of one in current gun rag. Question. It appears that there is a small half-moon cut in the barrel hood where it contacts the face of the slide. (True?) I assume this is to be able to see a loaded round???? (True?)Could be exciting if a case 'blew'!-I know this is where the base of the case is, but---looks kinda funky to me.

I will be interested in what the industry impression of this new 1911 contender will be.
