Anyone here watch Reno 911? Pretty funny show.
I laughed at the "Terrorism Training" episode where Lt. Dangle and Dep. Junior respond to a call in front of a house, and find a man hiding under a child's plastic swimming pool.
Did anyone notice how Dep. Junior held his pistol when he drew down on the suspect? He held it in his right hand (which was titled 90 degrees), and with his left hand he was holding the rear of the slide.
Kind of hard to describe, but it was funny. :D It would be a awesome screenshot.

Reno 911 is great. I loved Garcia's "pinata" that he whacked with his 9mm and displayed his anger management problem.

I loved the episode where Junior and another guy (can't remember who exactly) responded to a call where crazy dude was shooting passerbys with a paintball gun. They show up in full paintball gear and proceed to aprhend the dude with superior tactics.

It's a great show. I just wish they'd left it on Wednesday nights.
Looks like Comedy Central is doing a mid-day Reno 911 marathon today.

One of my favorite shows, when I remember to watch TV. :)
"Car 54, officer down! Officer down! 188 smith street!"
"I'll be right there!"
He hits the lights, guns it through some turns, arrives at the address.
Leaps out of his car, weapon drawn, bashes down the door to a darkened house. "Freeze!"
The lights turn on.. SUPRISE!! *BAM*! He shoots one fellow officer COM, who goes down, just as he realizes that it is a suprise birthday party for him.
There is a long, pregnant silence....
"Uh, happy birthday, Carl."
"Yeah happy birthday. Suprise!"
"We'd better get an ambulance here...."
They do it on camera much better than I can describe it here.
Funny, funny stuff.

I laugh so hard whenever Jones and Garcia are on patrol. My two favorite skits are when they go up to the taco stand and they don't get the clues that they are being robbed and Jones looks at the wrapper and reads it.
Jones: Officers, there are two armed men inside.
Garcia: I hope there are two-armed men in there. One-armed men wouldn't be able to make tacos.
The one at school training kids SAFE.
Garcia: Since we figure most of you carry guns to school anyway, we just wanted to let you know that there's not a damn thing we can do about it.
Jones: Not a damn thing.
Garcia: So, we figured we show you how to select the best gun and how to safely shoot it to put your man down. We are going to teach you SAFE. Steady. Aim. Fire. Everybodys. OK. This way you hit your target and we don't get the watermelon seed effect.
I also forgot the episode with the FBI. They are infront of the podium and need to introduce the FBI guys, but they don't know there names.
Dangle: Okay, the FBI agents want one of us to introduce them at the press conference. Who remembers their names?
Garcia: Ooh, ooh! Deputy James Garcia!:D

That show is great.
"Do you know that you look EXACTLY like Leonard Nimoy?" :D
Deputy Travis Junior: Getting two tickets to an execution is like getting two tickets to NASCAR, except you *know* Jeff Gordon's gonna die.
Lt. Jim Dangle: We have two passes to be witnesses at an execution. I know we all want these, so we're gonna do this the way we generally handle these things and we're gonna have a scavenger hunt.

I like the Terroism Training episode the best. The way the middleeastern trainer guy puts them down, and how the trainer tries to make Dep. Wiegel feel better about her job/life.
How about when Lt. Dangle asks Dep Jones to help him move, after they get the car loaded up, they move everythng down the street a house or two. Not across town like Jones thought they would.....

Yeah, Jones is actually one of my favorites on the show because he's the only "semi-normal" person on the crew and he always (like in the "moving" episode) has one of those, "What the hell have I gotten myself into?" expressions on his face. :D

The best is Junior with the drug dog.
Not very good at finding drugs but excellent at finding sloppy joes. So he goes with a mixture deciding to work up to only drugs

I just saw a few episodes for the first time...funny!
My favorite: two of the cops in a classroom showing young kids the correct way to shoot someone(!)as well as "show and tell" with a few different handguns "...cause you little girls have smaller hands..."
It fills the niche that "Jackass" left open.

one scene that was in a preview but not in an episode was supposedly the next day after jones helped dangle move. remember jones said "well i'll try anything once" and gave into dangles advances?
next mornings roll call, jones announces: "lt dangle is in the hospital. he cant walk."
everyone asks 'why?'
jones: "uhhhh, i dont want to talk about it."
the halloween pranks on weigel were great.
and the suicide watch for weigel?
"want to spoon?"

I believe that wasin that episode, or something similar. IIRC it went somethig like:
Jones: I'm taking role because Lt. Dangle is in the hospital.
voice(s): why?
Jones: Put it this way: he can't walk. Just leave it at that

I loved the 4th of July episode where they are instructed to confiscate all fireworks because the Mayor's son blew his thumb off.
Then they accidentally blow up the ice cream/fireworks truck.

"We know we can't stop you from bringing guns to school so we want to show you how to avoid collateral damage"... or something to that effect. "And for those of you on the wrestling team, you can skip over these girl guns and go straight to a semi-auto."

I do find the show funny, although most of it is filmed in Southern California, just the out desert scenes and some of the background scenes are shot here. Some of the depictions of the local trailer trash(pardon me i meant permanent residence challenged) is close to the mark. Reno is not as bad as portrayed but it still is a funny show. My favorite episode is when Garcia finds his daughter in a strip club. Dan Cooper

Hey DB, what's the joke?
"Reno is so close to hell you can see Sparks."
A Reno local at a gun shop told me that one a few years ago when I was up there (God this sounds so L.A) working on a film.
Love the show - though as someone said --- it's pretty clearly shot down around here in SoCal. Hard to tell if it's scripted or semi-adlibbed. Either way -- one of the more clever shows out there.

Can't add much that hasn't already been said, but my wife was listening to a radio interview with one of the guys (I think it was on the "Bob and Tom" morning show) and apparently a lot of the scenes are improv-type stuff.

I have haard that same joke about reno being so close to hell you can see spaks, pretty funny till you see the steam coming from the natural vent in south reno and you think.................. Also i know they paid the gal $80 to be his daughter but he didn't know that. The surprise party when an officer gets shot was funny also, Dan Cooper

The joke about Reno being close enough to Hell to see Sparks is premised on the proximity of Reno, Nevada to neighboring Sparks, Nevada.

"I think the show is hilarious.

What do the LEO's on this board think?"
Read anything by Joseph Wambaugh. He's a former leo who has written a lot of novels that shamelessly lampoon many of the police officer protagonists. His portrayal of police officers as very human is the most endearing quality of the police officers in his books, in my opinion. I got my recommendation of Wambaugh from the director of the police academy I attended who is a retired police chief. Reno 911 could have been written by him.
I think that any sensible leo watching the program realizes that it is intended to be a caricature.
