I traded my Glock 22 Gen4 for a beautiful NIB 25th anniversary M9. Don't get me wrong, I love Glocks, but I really don't like the 40 S&W round. I originally was set on buying a M9A1. However, the price was a bit to high. The person at the gun shop said he had something I might like, and there it was! It has excellent fit and finish, and the slide racks smooth as silk. I can't wait to pick it up Tuesday! :D

I have a 92fs and it is easily one of my favorite guns. You will definitely have a lot of fun with it.

EDIT: It really isn't a gulf war bring back. According to the gun shop owner, it was the previous owner's service pistol that had a few broken parts in it out of the box, so the military allowed him to keep it and bring it back home and he was issued a new one. He fixed the parts and sold it to my local ffl apparently. It has wood grips with no beretta logo on them. It might be crap what the gun shop owner is telling me, but I'm sure the previous owner didn't steal the gun or anything and all did with buy the preowned, unfired gun at the shop.

:what:I don't think I'd be advertising a "Gulf War Bringback" on the internet. Especially a US issued weapon.

The military doesn't give away guns, if its broken they destroy them unfortunatly. If that really is the story than it sounds like the Shop owner BS'ed you.

Hate to say it (or maybe not) but the gunshop owner is definitely BSing....The US Military does not purchase "Anniversary" firearms for issue. I guess, if it was WWII all over again, they might not be too picky, but that would be stretching it.

My guess is some GI bought it, and just did not like it, or it got damaged and he repaired it and sold it off.

Personal firearms (except under extremely rare instances, like Patton) cannot be carried as duty firearms. Never, ever saw it when I was in. In fact, even modifying an issue firearms with non-issued sights, slings or foregrips was a serious no-no.

I have the Beretta 92FS, bought in 1991 at a Phoenix area Wal-Mart for about $369.00. Other than springs and additional magazines, it is still going strong, with thousands of rounds fired through it.

In Vietnam and wars prior they didn't care what you carried for a sidearm, personal sidearms were very common.

I like the 9FS a lot...I bought one just to see what the US service pistol was like, and I found it to be an excellent pistol. However, I recently traded my 92FS for a Glock 17, which I like even more than the Beretta....Lighter, more compact, bigger mag...and I like the Glock trigger.
