Is $350 a good deal for this?

Seller states the gun is a No. 4 Enfield from 1955 (not sure if he is thinking rebuild date or original manufacture, dont know much about these) and is in "unfired" condition.

I am doubting its unfired. I assume he is stating that because it was in cosmoline when he bought it 20 years ago. Going to go look at it tonight.

Since there is no pics, lets assume 98% condition, all matching numbers, not sporterized, etc.

He said there is a bayonnet that goes with it. Didnt think to ask him if it matched.

Since he called I have realized more than one manufacturer of these. Sorry if too little info.

It's probably a no4 mk11 and if it's even close to 98% you had better grab it up.

Thanks- After doing some more independent research, I realize he may be correct in stating its unfired. I will go check it out. He wants 350 and I will give it to him, depending on what I find. He stated he cleaned off the cosmoline and put it away. I'll post later if anyone wants to see pic.

I didnt know they made them into the 1950's..... Nice new enfield!

How late were they made, did you find out in your research?

Is the bayonet original to the gun?

That would really make that deal sweet.

I saw on a forum somewhere that one guy remembered having one from 57, "or maybe even later" but I guess in my elementary research, I did not find any that were dated later than 55...

Is the bayonet original to the gun?

I was kind of wondering the same thing. It is obviously not issued, and the seller stated it came with the mummy wrapped gun when he bought it. I suppose that is no guarantee it is original to the gun. It is marked " NO9Mk1" and then below that it says "D-54". I saw a video on youtube by Hickok45 that said his bayonet was serialed to his enfield, so I don't know if they changed what they did in later years, not putting serial numbers on them, or if this is some kind of mismatch. I assume the 54 means it was made in 54.

I also read that these were briefly resurrected in the 70's either for Pakistan, or in Pakistan (cant remember which now). Not sure on the differences/quality of the 70's version. I noticed in fjestads blue book that these post war enfields of the 50's were supposed to have better fitting than the war version.
