A while back I got a screaming deal on an AMT Hardballer. I made the mistake of asking about it AFTER I got it but I am now SOOOO glad I got it! EVERYTHING I heard or read on the net about this gun was WRONG except from those who have actually had one of this vintage who said it was a finely made great shooting gun.

I have shot a couple rounds thru it till last evening in my back acreage. I shot four mags thru it last evening back there and at 10 yards there was one giant hole. It fed everything from 230gr ball, to silvertips, to +p 230gr super bad ammo, and a handfull of JHPs I couldn't remeber the source of but they were factory ammo. 185gr and 230. Heck I put five different rounds in one mag and everything fed and fired!

I can say this is one great 1911.

Oh, of course it was a lucky shot, but I did hit a golf ball on the first shot at about 75m! My son was impressed! He said WOW daddy! You are a good shot! He is 5.

Congrats on your gun! AMT put out some good pieces, had their share of lemons, too but it sounds like you got a good one. Just make sure you use a good lube and run it wet.

I've got a NIB Hardballer Long Slide, I'll have to get it out one day and see how it runs.

I had an AMT Hardballer I bought in 1992. It is the only 1911 I've ever had what was 100% reliable and it was extremely accurate. I really regret getting rid of that one.

Mine is one of those that isn't one with a galling problem. In fact, mine needs less lube than most of my other 1911s. Mine is one of the ones after they went away from the stainless that got all the complaints.
