Everyone is soooo caught up in what they use for defense, we don't hear much about what's just plain fun to shoot.
I use a Ruger Vaquero 45 most of the time at the range for fun, but have a place in my heart for autos as well as shotguns and rifles.
Have fun showing off what you love!

Marlin 1894CB 45lc. It is too fun to shoot. At least right now.
May 22, 2011, 06:41 PM
My wife's High Standard Trophy, 22 lr, and High Standard Olympic, 22 short
May 22, 2011, 06:42 PM
It always tickles me to shoot the Browning Auto Five. Half corn machine, half trombone.
Mine has a yard of Belgian barrel on it, choked 'one star' (tighter than tight) so it isn't tacticool.
May 22, 2011, 06:49 PM
I shoot my S&W Mdl 10. I reload my own for 'plinking' purposes, so it's fairly cheap to shoot. It's a solid 'shootin' gun.:D
May 22, 2011, 06:56 PM
Can't go wrong with old reliable. I'm with you: Colt .357 with .38 special wadcutters......They go wherever you throw 'em. Head shots all day long on a silhouette.
May 22, 2011, 07:00 PM
My early 70's vintage Ruger Standard Automatic with skinny 4-inch barrel and fixed sights. I've been shooting the hell out of this gun since I was in junior high and it just never gets old.
May 22, 2011, 07:07 PM
love my husbands Ruger Standard Auto too. My husband has been shooting it since he was 8. We love to shoot everything from the little .22 to his 30-06.
May 22, 2011, 07:07 PM
My very first gun was given to me by my dad for Christmas when I was about 12. It was a Winchester 250, lever action .22; and simply for the nostalgia of it, it is my favorite gun to shoot. I own and have shot many, many guns over the years, but the there is just something about that first one...

Hello friends and neighbors // My S&W 586 goes to the range every time, makes a good do all tool and I enjoy shooting it.
The biggest surprise and my favorite to shoot is a 1939 Winchester Model 69A.
Dead on accurate at last weeks range trip, as usual.
I learned to shoot with both the 69 and 69A at Boy Scout Camp and relearned with them in HS ROTC with our Marine DI /teacher ( Thanks TOP )

My Marlin 336 30-30.... Just makes me smile, remember hunting trips, friendships. Love to shoot it....open sights or with scope for a little distance marksmanship!
Funnest Plinkers are always a Ruger MK 1 - 2 - or 3 I like heavy Barrell Target
May 22, 2011, 07:21 PM
I can relate. My father in law has a Thompson Center Contender 30-30 that I love to shoot! I have actually had dreams about shooting it...... lol
My favorite is the Browning A-5 that my father willed to me when he passed. It was his most prized possession. It may not be the fanciest or most valuable shotgun, but it is a fine piece given to me by fine man. Dad was a simple man, utilitarian to the core. This gun was extravagant by his standards. It will be well cared for and will be used to kill pheasants till the day I pass. I hope one of my three sons will do the same.

It's a Colt Commander .45
All my guns are fun to shoot, but, hands down it's my Kalashniclone:evil:
May 22, 2011, 11:39 PM
Easy question for me-Browning Buckmark with a 4" TacSol barrel and a Burris Fastfire. Perfect balance, points well, very accurate, and great ammo cost.
May 22, 2011, 11:54 PM
My favorite (which I no longer have :() was a Marlin Golden 39A .22 LR levergun. This was with the old half-cock safety and could hold 29 shorts/19 LR in the mag and they could even be mixed in the mag.
The favorite I have now is a Ruger .22 SA Convertible (LR/Mag).
May 23, 2011, 12:03 AM
I love to spend an afternoon leasurely shooting my flintlock longrifle. There is no more relaxing thing to shoot. I even love the smell.
May 23, 2011, 12:05 AM
My CCW isn't even near close to being my favorite to shoot. My favorite handgun is a 6" Model 14 and long gun, an old, beat up Glenfield 60 with iron sights. Both of 'em are tack drivers.
May 23, 2011, 12:06 AM
SIG BLACKWATER 1911.
Outstanding pistol, Makes Liberals Cry and a blast to shoot. To heavy to carry, but fun for the range and could work on the night stand.
May 23, 2011, 12:20 AM
My favorite gun to shoot is any Remington Model 8 or 81. They are cool looking rifles but they can be hard to feed as the ammo for a number of them is no longer in production. The 35 Rem and 300 Savage versions can be kind of brutal to shoot but the 25 Rem is a real sweet one. I also have a real soft spot for the M1 Carbine which I shoot as often as I can.
Favorite shotgun is a Browning Citori in 410 with a Browning Citori XS 28 ga being a real close second.
Favorite pistols is either a Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 Casull (though I prefer 45 Colt for plinking and most hunting) or a Browning Buckmark Target.
Favorite rimfire rifle is a Marlin 917 commorative with fluted barrel and grey laminate stock though I shoot a Marlin 25N more often due to price.
May 23, 2011, 01:26 AM
I think the 10/22 gets the most range time at this point. It's reliable, accurate enough, not too loud, can be shot in areas where centerfires would draw too much attention, and is so cheap to feed!
Having said that, I hope to own a Jim Chambers PA Fowler in about .58 caliber smoothbore by this time next year. I love the history of flintlocks, want to get into reenacting as English Provincial/Militia for the French and Indian war, and know from experience that a large caliber flintlock smoothbore is just a hell of a lot of fun to put lead downrange with! When I own this gun, I think it will become one of my favorites to shoot.
May 23, 2011, 04:09 AM
I've got to say any of my M-1 Carbines are likely my favorites to shoot. If you've never shot one, you'll never understand why. They're just plain fun to shoot.
May 23, 2011, 06:51 AM
My 1895 .45-70.
From Trapdoor loads to high performance (sadistic) loads I create.
Fun to shoot and watch other people grab their shoulders in pain and laugh
My r700 in aught six. You can't beat perfection. :)
May 23, 2011, 07:20 AM
Colt 45 SAA clone by American Arms.
May 23, 2011, 09:41 AM
May 23, 2011, 10:03 AM
My Ruger Single Six gets the most use and fun to shoot. It is deadly with shot in 22mag and small game in mag. For just plain fun the 22lr gets much more use. I carry it openly and on the back 40 it is a great companion with it's 61/2" stainless barrel it is darn near perfect and very accurate.
May 24, 2011, 02:06 AM
Winchester Model 67 single shot .22 rifle.
Dad's first gun, far and away my favorite. Not sure how many thousands of rounds I have put through it.
May 24, 2011, 02:26 AM
12 ga pump
May 24, 2011, 02:48 AM
my parkerized m10 2 inch revolver.
May 24, 2011, 03:30 AM
Probably my marlin 30-30.
May 24, 2011, 06:34 AM
My just for fun gun in a revolver would have to be my Ruger Vaquero. Amazingly accurate for a fixed sighted single action, it's so much fun to shoot.
May 24, 2011, 06:55 AM
what a good post fun shooters auto my pk 380 I can tear the middle of the target up and love to do so as fast as I can. Rifle my 221 fireball smooth shooter and a bit odd. And just to say I can my contender 375 jdj with a 220 gr hornady at 100 yards all easy shooter and make me feel happy I can enjoy my chosen hobbie
May 24, 2011, 09:43 AM
CZ 452. Sweet little .22LR bolt action. Fun to shoot w/ scope or the excellent iron sights. Tack driver and kinda purdy too.
May 24, 2011, 12:20 PM
Hmmm. I could probably come back to this thread every couple of months with a different answer, without buying anything new! Any revolver in .44 magnum brings a smile to my face, but right now, my favorite is a Uberti 2nd Model 1848 Dragoon; nothing quite like a black powder percussion revolver. But, when my tax stamp finally clears, I have no doubt that my favorite will (once again) be a several-years-old Browning Buckmark ... once it's sporting a can!
May 24, 2011, 03:46 PM
Old CZ 75B.
May 24, 2011, 04:04 PM
One more vote for a browning buckmark urx camper :neener:
i really love shooting my baby......
Savage Mk2 With all the fixins'
its hard not to be proud when she puts up groups like this
May 24, 2011, 04:27 PM
Marlin 39M mountie, ( made in 64 ) and Marlin 1894 ( made 07) in 38/357. Even those these guns are 40+ years apart they look like they were made as a matched set. Just fun to shoot.
May 24, 2011, 09:35 PM
Kimber custom 1911 with a kimber 22 conversion; so accurate it is unreal.
May 25, 2011, 12:10 AM
For self defense I prefer shotgun in the house, a 6.8 AR outside and a customized 1911 for concealed carry, but for recreational purposes I enjoy revolvers. I have a Smith and Wesson Model 28 also known as the Highway Patrolman that prints clovers at 25 yards and a Ruger Security six that was a bequest from my father that is not far behind it in usable accuracy. Tomorrow I am buying a Smith and Wesson revolver in .45 ACP just to shoot for fun. I also enjoy pistol caliber carbines. Something about figuring out how to lob a heavy slow bullet into a distant target turns my crank. I don’t even know why.
May 25, 2011, 12:16 AM
Sprinfield XD9, without a doubt. After that my AK.
May 25, 2011, 12:22 AM
That's a tough one.
If cost is no issue, my Mossberg 500. It's old, beat up and polished smooth in the mean time.
And with the right target rounds it smells soooo nice.
May 25, 2011, 05:24 AM
S&W 686 6" .38 wad cutter, I could shoot all day and still be sad when the ammo runs out
May 25, 2011, 05:44 AM
I'd say probably my PTR-91. XCR as a close second.
May 25, 2011, 11:59 PM
Any of my Colt Woodsmen or Hi Standard .22 autos. Any Single Action revolver.
I don't get much fun from too many rounds from centerfire rifles except for the .223's. My .50 flintlock rifle is a joy to shoot.
May 26, 2011, 07:28 PM
I enjoy 6 carry guns, I shoot em all. If I stop liking them I sell one and get another that I like more. Next is my AK that should be in tomorrow.
May 26, 2011, 08:25 PM
My grandfather had a Winchester 42, a .410 pump gun, that I could borrow for dove season. My uncle has the gun, I may never see it again.
So I bought a Browning 42, a nice reproduction of the Winnie 42, when they came out years ago. When I pick it up, I am 15 years old again, and going dove hunting with grandpa.
May 26, 2011, 09:12 PM
Why is there an assumption that my CCW IS my favorite firearm? It isn't by a longshot.......it isn't in 2nd, 3rd, 4th or even 5th position.
My target shotguns used for targets and birds are far and away more fun than ANY CCW gun
May 27, 2011, 10:53 AM
My Ruger 22/45 mk 3 is fun but I love my Doublestar 1911.
