gregj May 24, 2011, 12:53 PM I just got mine last night and set it up for my LNL. I had been using the Powder Cop, but I'm changing the way I'm doing things (going to seat and crimp in seperate dies) so I figured it was time to change things up some. Just playing around with different powder weights to see where it locks up, once I had it set up for a 5.7gr drop, it would lock up on an empty case, about 3gr, and about 6.7gr - schweeeet !! I wished I had gotten one when I got my LNL. Now, it's one less thing I have to worry about now during reloading. :D

REL1203 May 24, 2011, 01:02 PM In the same order i placed for my LNL 2 weeks ago, first thing, before shellplates even, i added the Lock Out die. Great device. Somehow, it saved me in my first 500 loads on a double charge for my 357mag.... Would have been bad to have 10g of w231 in one round, it locked up quick and immediatly brought it to my attention. I seat and crimp in seperate stations as well, I guess I will never be able to get a Bullet Feeder since I am not giving up my Lockout die.
BYJO4 May 24, 2011, 05:30 PM I am also a fan of the RCBS Lock Out Die on my LNL. I would not use a progressive press without it. Although it cost a bit, I have a Lock Out Die set for each caliber so no additional adjustment needed when I change from one caliber to another.
ConcernedCitizen May 24, 2011, 11:42 PM I experimented with mine a bit, wanting to know what the minimum to maximum cutoffs were.
Using Unique in a .45 case, there is a 3 grain spread from min to max. I can set the low cutoff for 4.5 grains, and have the high cutoff lock out at 7.5 grains. This seems safe enough to me, but I'm thinking about dialing it back to 4 grains minimum, 7 grains max.

HK SD9 Tactical June 22, 2011, 07:43 PM I agree on the double charge - how do you get one on the LnL AP? However, for squibs it works great.

I know!! I know!! You get a primer stuck on your decapping pin so you try to push it out again by pulling the lever before the plate has completely turned around. How do I know? A buddy of mine was doing it and blew up his Kahr.
Also, 10 grains of 231 probably wouldn't be a kaboom in a .357 mag. I have seen a Glock 9mm take on 10 grains and come out fine.
Peter M. Eick June 25, 2011, 03:42 PM I found my lock out die was good for about +/- 0.5 grns of trailboss in 45colt. I view it as a necessary evil now. It catches short charges if set up correctly.
