Hey guys I just bought myself a nice 1955 Marlin lever action in 35 Remington. Walmart and the local gun shop has no ammo for it so I am ordering reloading dies and supplies from Midway. My question is which dies and bullets work well together. I know some dies cut into the bullets leaving a ring cut into the end of the bullets. I don't like the way that looks and worry that it may cause the ammo to load roughly into the rifles chamber. Thanks for sharing your experience reloading for lever action rifles.

Any name brand reloading dies should not leave a ring on the bullet nose, or cause feed problems.

Bullets suitable for the .35 Rem are available from most all of the major bullet manufactures.

Just make sure you pick the right round nose bullets designed for the .35 Rem with a round or flat point for tube magazine safety, and a crimp cannelure in the right place for a feeding in a lever-action.

There are other bullets of the correct .357" - .358" diameter out there.
But the spier point ones are designed for bolt-action rifles and higher velocity levels.

I am loading the Speer 180 Gr flat nose (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=545716) bullet for my Marlin in .35 Remington (http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=139656&d=1301699020) that I purchased a few months ago. I am using standard RCBS dies and they work great. I am using a nice medium crimp into the cannelure. The seater does not mark the bullet at all.

I am looking at the Core-Lokt 200 Grain Round Nose Bullets and the Lee Pacesetter 3-Die Set. I think these will work.

They should work just fine.

Try out your dies, and whichever bullets you choose. If you get a ring around the bullet nose with your favorite bullet, here's how you can fix it.
Take out the seating plug from the die. Stretch some plastic wrap over the nose of a bullet. Put a glop of hot glue in the end of the seating plug, and press the bullet into it.
Wait a minute for the glue to harden, pull out the bullet and trim away excess glue.
Voila! Custom seater plug.
You can reheat the plug with a heat gun and remove the glue should you change bullets later.
The ring marking doesn't really hurt anything, but it doesn't look nice.:p
