Hey everyone,
I recently placed an order from a local gun shop, and the Sig P226 I wanted wasn't in stock. The owner said he would order me one from his distributor, but his distributor was out of stock and waiting on Sig Manufacturing to ship the distributor more pistols.

My question is: Approximately how long will it take for my P226 to come in? The anticipation is killing me.

Thanks for the help

There's really no way to tell. It pretty much depends on how big the distributor is, how much of a shortage there is at the moment with Sig, and how high of a priority your dealer is with his distributor.

There is no way to tell. Manufacturers do runs of models and the general public typically isn't privy to that info. Also certain distributors pull more weight than others when it comes to getting product...in other words there are a lot of variables that guessing won't illuminate. Be patient, it'll come. :)

Nobody can answer that question.

SIG USA is dabbling in so many different firearms designs lately, I doubt if they even know when the will make a run of P226's again.

It's not like they have a different manufacturing line for 60 different models of handguns & rifles.

It also depends on when & if the distributor placed an order, and where they fit in the cue of orders.

Thanks for the info guys, I may have to call my LGS and begin looking into other pistols. This is my first home defense firearm and I don't think I can wait for months of uncertainty.

Any recommendations on different firearms that are similar to/or compare to the P226?

Well, what about the P226 made you like it so much? If there are particular features you like/dislike, it will help us narrow the field of potential choices for you.

what i liked most about the sig was the feel of the p226 in my hand, the decocker, and the metal frame.

There a plenty of new P-226's around to be had.

Maybe you should just check with another dealer, or a gun show.

Just because one dealer and one distributer is out doesn't mean there aren't any.

We had a SIG P226 9mm "Blackwater" edition sit for months on the end, with NO buyer. Finally, we sold it at a discounted price; now I think we have a few of both the 9mm and .40S&W P226's in stock~! :scrutiny: ;) :D

Just an FYI, but there are also a bunch of P226's on Gunbroker.

I just bought an Exeter N.H. West German P228.
Every shop I perused had at least one P226 in stock.

I found a certified pre owned Sig P229 from a dealer at a gun show for cheap. At the same gun show I found an E. Geman 226 with a bit of holster wear for $400. Unless you are looking for a very specific model, there are some great deals out there on used Sigs. Some people don't like to buy used guns, and that is understandable. I've been pretty lucky so far with buying used.

Unless your LGS is direct with Sig there is not way to tell. If they were direct they get updated inventory from their sales rep on a regular basis.
