Slugged the barrel in my new Colt 38 Super last night and it measures .355. Will a .357 bullet in this barrel be asking for trouble?

I bought a bunch of Reminton 130g FMJ to use in my new Super before I actually sugged the bbl and they are .357 (they actually measure .357 too).

Thanks

As long as the loaded rounds will chamber freely, you will be ok.
If they are tight in the chamber, they are too large; the dreaded Clark "Bullet Pinch."

I would be concerned about bullet pinch. Even if the round chambers freely it may still be too tight a fit to allow for enough expansion resulting in much higher pressures. The resulting delay can cause some really high pressure spikes. As already mentioned, lead bullets are not as much a concern, but a jacketed bullet is where trouble can develope.

Where did you buy Rem 130gr .357" bullets?
Remington sells 38 special ammo with that bullet but not in component form...AFAIK

There is data for .357 bullets in the Super. The Hodgdon annual has some.
I use the .356" - 125 grain Hornady HAP quite a bit in the 9mm and Super which mic's ~ .3566".

I got them at Graf's, they're listed under 38 Super.

I assumed the barrel would be .356 in the Super then they would be fine but when it slugged at .355 I began to wonder. The more I think about it though we're talking about .001, that aint much. I think I'm gonna start low and try some.

I also have some of the HAP to try as well.
