I have a Savage Model 1907 .32acp pistol, which I compared to an old Savage instruction manual for the Model 1907. I found in the instructions information on a loaded chamber indicator. My pistol does not have the loaded chamber indicator. Also, the manual says the pistol can be carried with the hammer down on a loaded chamber. My pistol cannot be carried that way, safely. My pistol was made in 1909. Does anyone know when Savage started making this pistol with the loaded chamber indicator, and made it safe to carry with the hammer down on a loaded chamber?

The loaded chamber indicator is part of the extractor, which sticks up when there is a cartridge in the chamber, so you can see it or feel it with your finger. I think that and the passive firingpin safety have always been part of the Model 1907 design. http://www.vintagepistols.com/1907/ibfpage.html?imagenumber=1&lastpage=40

So photos of your pistol might help.

GCBurner,
Thanks. Looking at the "It Banishes Fear" - Instruction Booklet, on the website you provided, it shows a picture on page 38 of the component parts and one of the parts it points out on the barrel is the Chamber Indicator, and it points out the extractor, showing them apparently as separate parts. My pistol does not have that Chamber Indicator.

I just bought a Savage 1907 .32ACP from Jackson Arms in Dallas, Texas.

There are two mags for the gun. I think I have the 7 mag.

Serial #109172. Anything special I should know about it?

These are neat old guns, but I would not use one for a carry gun---much better choices today!
