District Justice Joseph Dalfonso sent a Monessen teenager to jail after his parents turned him in to police Wednesday.
Accused of shooting a 15-year-old girl at a Highland Manor apartment Sunday, Daniel Towler, 17, of 512 Sixth St., Monessen, is being prosecuted as an adult because a felony charge of aggravated assault has been filed against him.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed with Dalfonso, Towler was "playing with" and "twirling" a handgun when he dropped it in the apartment at 1009 Highland Manor approximately 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
The gun reportedly went off when it fell.
The bullet hit Brooke Campbell, 15, of Hempfield Township, in the buttocks. Campbell was discharged Monday from Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
