A Springfield Loaded

A newer SA Loaded, 600 rounds through it with zero malfunctions. The frame is stamped with 2011 -- that aspect of the purchase is one of my ways of celebrating 100 years of a timeless design.

Factory full length guide rod assembly replaced with Ed Brown GI guide rod and Wilson Combat recoil spring plug.

Factory front and rear night sights were shooting low for me unless I used a crazy sight picture, and I thought the daylight visibility of those sights was not great, so I replaced them with Fusion Firearms adjustable night sights. Yes they are big honkin' sights. You can see your target over the top of Kareem Abdul Jabar's head.

Factory RH and LH thumb safety replaced with RH-only Ed Brown part. This is an elegant part, I like it a lot.

Factory leaf spring, replaced with Brazos Custom part, tuned by me to give the same 4 lb trigger pull as my Mil Spec.

Factory sear, replaced with Brazos Custom part.

Factory hammer and hammer strut, replaced with Brazos Custom parts, Quicksilver hammer pre-mated to sear.

Brazos custom came through again; this gun has the same clean, crisp trigger pull as my Mil Spec that also has their mated hammer-sear parts.

Gun can easily be restored to all-original parts if desired, though I won't be doing that.

A pic of the factory parts, removed:

In this pic, the front sight looks much smaller than it really is.

The front and rear dots show their real-life proportions here. This sight picture is close to what I had to use with the factory sights to not shoot low. The gun cleaning mat showing "Glock Perfection" in the background is regrettable. Apologies all around.

Good angle to see how beefy the rear sight is.

The Ed Brown thumb safety is a nice part. Blued parts look fine against parkerization if you were wondering about that for your own gun(s).

The thumb safety's slimness is shown from above.

Very nice self-custom build. I like how everything looks pretty much stock, but serves a purpose. Well done sir.

Some years back I bought a SA Loaded model new on Auction Arms for $505 plus shipping...it took a while to get it to "my" specs but its always been a good shooter...might get a chance to shoot it Saturday!
