I am waiting on my lee classic turret to come in but I have my reloading bench prepped. I have a smaller home and 3 kids (no garage) and the wife gave me a 50" space to reload in a spare bedroom. Oh and an old kitchen Island. The results.

Here is what I started with:

I built a top and some shelves and added some plastic bins.

The Final Results

Considering I have a very hard time putting things from walmart together and haven't built anything since a last place pine car for my sons boy scouts I am kinda happy. Now if my press would just come in!

Any suggestions on what I need or could do to improve?

Thanks

A+ for eagerness, man! You are on your way toward the seemingly never- ending tweaking process of the reloading bench :)

Mine continues to be a "workable work in progress" , only moved my press once, so far, hehe.

Good job!

Whoa! wait a minute, you didn't mention THE COOL RUG!!!

Awesome! :D

Take the whole room! You are the man of the house and head of household aren't you? :)

^--FORTH LAW, YOUR BREAKIN THE FOURTH LAW!!!

ah, just kidding. hehehe. I am kind of curious if that is your bookshelf over there on the left or hers. If it's hers you might want to throw it out before she can complain about not being able to get to her books, plus that'll give you an extra 8" of space, hahaha.

Looks nice man, I'm sure there will be some "improvised solutions" that are added to it as time goes on. That's how I learned to organise my toolshed, used it for a year, took all my complaints and gripes about it, then solved them when I redesigned it, still a work in process.

That'll get you started. Thats about all I had when I got going about 6 years ago.

Like the compactness but see one thing that will be a problem. The casters on the cabinet will make the bench be in constant motion. An idea. Since your allowed to use the kitchen island mount your press to a 2x10 3-4' long and use c-clamps to secure it to the island. Wheel you unit to the kitchen when you reload. I do this with my LNL-AP but to a kitchen table. 78 deg is a lot nicer than 100+ in the garage.

You did mention kids, if young you will need locks on the cabinet......

I am the man of the house but since I like having a woman of the house around I wil have to give a little....less reasons I give her to complain about my guns and reloading the less she will ask "how much did that cost"

The bookshelf is actually my oldest 14 year old son. He stays with me every weekend and this is his room so I don't want to totally turn it into a gun room. He shoots with me and thinks reloading is cool so he likes this set up... The bookshelf is his shrine to Mississippi state university....which I think is cool so I like that setup

That right there is EXACTLY why I'm staying divorced! Been 23 years now, no way I'd ever get a woman around to TELL me what to do and when.

That said, you have a good start to the addiction. Be advised, it's ONLY the beginning. You have your foot in the door, just make sure it stays there, then you might get your whole body through the door!:what::evil::neener:

I never waited over 2 days for anything I ordered from Midway USA. Where did you order from?

Nice job, you might consider putting a backing on your shelf unit as something will fall off the back.

Ordered a lee classic turret from lee factory sales llc. I also ordered some 38/357 dies and some 45 colt dies. The order was placed last Saturday and I found out today(Friday) that the 45 colt dies were backordered and nothing has shipped yet.

I canceled the 45s and hopefully the rest should now be on it's way. I am a little frustrated that I had to find this out by contacting them but the price of the press was about $30 cheaper than midway so I guess it is all good
