Pretty sure you could gut your own $10 ear buds, pick up some spent 9mm brass from the range and reverse engineer this for literally a fraction of cost. Some epoxy and a dremel tool will go a long way here.

You know what I think you're right.

I can't seem to find the picture, but I thought for sure you were referring to an infamous pic of a bunch of guys on a firing line and one of them is plugging up an ear with the muzzle of his Beretta, and the other ear with a finger!

The ones for 159 look like skullcandy ear buds I bet you could make them work and they sound great Best ear buds I have found for the money I don't think I would be able to cut up a pair and try to make them look different though

I have big ears, do they make em in .45?

I think the sound quality of a .45 size would have better bass response and less distortion than a 9mm. The overall sound quality would be better.

Let the caliber wars begin !!

I saw the Gunny on some show and he had them in his ears and one of my kids commented that spent shell casings wouldn't offer very good ear protection not to mention that fired brass wouldn't be the best thing to shove into your ears. I assumed that they were some kind of ear-bud type thing with shell casings stuck on them....

$150.00, yeah, I'll stick with my 17 cent ones and maybe some rainy day I'll use a bit of crazy glue and a few spent .45ACP's to make a pair for myself...

Would probably be a bit heavy to stay stuck in your ears well.

And looking at the numbers, there's very little--if at all--better than my $30 Sony pair.

They are still pretty bada** though. Too much coin for me though.

I come from a USMC family, and have seen several of my uncles do that- with live rounds. I expect R. Lee Emory may do the same.

I tried a few times- they work, but don't stay in too well. A few years ago, I deactivated a bunch of primers, set them in nickle plated .45ACP casings, and glued foamys in place of a bullet with a little silicone sealant.

Old timey looks, new fangled function.

If a bad thing happened, I doubt you would ever know it.

$159??!? I think I'll pass...

Guaranteed to cause panic and confusion the next time you try to bring your iPod onto a commercial flight, though! :)

Cartridges are actually very stable. Pretty much anything that would set off a round ( +500f, a sharp impact to the primer) would pretty much ruin your day anyway. It *is* still a little alarming when you think about it, though.

What a gimmick, I wonder other than Rappers, who bought theses at $200.00 a pop. Since metal conducts sound, it kind of reaks of a bad idea, and no battery to regulate the frquency, it looks like a con job. I can see them falling out of your ears every few minutes.
