Just bought a new Jeep Wrangler and am really looking forward to using it this coming season.
I would like to find some kind of rack I can use to get my rifles up off the floor while driving to the lease or range. I've looked at some rack styles that attach to the roll bars while others attach to the window.
I plan on keeping the hard top on through the hunting season so that won't be an issue but was wondering what experienced Jeep users preferred?
Thanks for the help.

They make one for pick up trucks that slides over the seats and holds I think two long guns behind them. One thing I have always hated about my jeep is the total lack of any cargo room whatsoever.

Rugged gear makes a floor mounted rack that is very secure - use them for sporting clay carts all the time- helps keep the muzzles upright and takes up very little space
They also have racks that can be mounted so the gun rides horizontally

Do you have a 2 dr JK or a 4 dr? I usually just take the back seat out of my 2 dr during hunting season. I just toss my gear in the back, and put my rifle in a padded soft case on top of the other stuff. I haven't seen a good rack for a 2 dr yet. I've been looking at Hi-Lift jack mounts trying to see if I could home-brew it into a gun rack, but haven't messed with it yet.

I have a '97 Wrangler with full roll cage, I think is similar to current models. This may not work for you, but I bought a leather scabbard (intended for use on a horse, I think)and I strap it vertically to the roll cage behind the driver's seat, and use it to hold a shotgun.

I think the army used a metal pole & Swivel mount ......
I built mine, it bolts to the "roll cage" holes used for soft top doors. I stopped at a road block a few years back and when I handed my CWP an DL he asked if I had and firearms. I told him I had one next to where I retrived my ID and another, pointed up. He ducked down to look and said "OH!" Took a step back and handed my ID back to me.
