JSE Surplus has some special builds for under $600. Heres one for $525 its a special you will have to add sights.

Seems like a great deal!

Why not save a little longer and get a quality rifle? Spikes tactical has really high quality rifles for about 800 bucks. Honestly as a AR owner the rifle is 1 time purchase and relatively inexpensive when compared to ammo and accessories cost over the life of the rifle.

delton kit for 485 + 20 shipping + stripped lower (dsa blem is $65 shipped) + $20 ffl +$10 magazine = $600 AR. add optic of your choice.

cheapest complete gun I can think of is the doublestar at budsguns for about $690 after ffl.

I don't think cmmg is running their bargain bin $600 ar's any more.

The M&P Sport has a lot of the same features as the 900.00 and up AR15's, if you dont feel like you have to have a dust cover or forward assist, and its only 599.00 at Academy or Cabellas or around 580 at Buds or Impact (the only problem is catching them in stock, they're selling like hot cakes). I just spent about a month researching the options for low cost AR15s and decided on the M&P Sport because of the superior barrel and LMT bolt carrier group. Here's the thread highlighting some of the features of the M&P Sport
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=597230

There is also a company that sells complete delton rifle kits (including the stripped lower reciever) for 559.00 with 8 dollars shipping, remember that this kit or any lower receiver will have to be transferred through an FFL dealer which will cost anywhere between 20 and 40 dollars. http://coldhandarms.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=29&products_id=137

Both are excellent rifles for just under 600.00.

+1 on the Sport. S&W announced it at the Shot Show in January and didn't start shipping it until March. As Breakmyfootoff said, they've been selling like hotcakes. I've seen numerous reports on the web from new owners and virtually all are positive, which is highly unusual for any new gun.

There really isn't anything wrong with going with a cheap rifle/build. A lot of them run just fine. You just have to accept that parts may break or wear out before they should and you just have to be prepared to fix it. The only real danger is that without the testing that is done on the parts used by the "better" names, the likelihood of failure is higher.

A kit is $450 and a lower is $100 (or less). That for a basic M4'gery. Now, the accessories, mags, and ammo will push the price up past the $1000 mark!

CMMG offers the $599 Bargain Bin, and there are stocking retailers in Missouri. Other's put guns on sale from time to time, too.

M16 kits are out with new barrels and a semi auto lower, less than $500. Used, yes, milspec, yes. They are actually government accepted parts, which are the ONLY true milspec parts on the market. As a collector item and shooter, every bit as good as we can get if the CMP could sell them - and they apparently never will.

Ar15.com is a good source for checking bargains, try the you build it forum for the cheap parts thread, and the early M16 forums for sales links. It's like looking for a car, everyone advertises, but you have to get the classifieds and go look - daily - or you miss the deals.

Palmetto has lowers for $49.99 today for Fathers Day. Offers like that last hours, not weeks.

I wouldn't get too excited. Aim sells SA lowers for $59.95 regular price. Only saving $10 (can't remember if Aim has free shipping on those).
