I bought an O/U shotgun today, my first. One of the 'big guys' at work sold it to me. The gun is a Franchi Veloce, an Italian gun, I think. I paid $200 sight unseen. He will bring it in Monday. This is a field gun for him, and he says it has been used a lot, but is in exellent mechanical shape.

The Franchi is a 20 Ga, and has choke tubes.

I used to own a Franchi semi auto years back, but have never handled one of their O/U. For the price, I could not turn it down.

Does anyone here have experience with this brand of O/U?

One of our guys just recently bought one. It seems a nice gun.
For $200 you got a steal unless it is a total rattletrap.

Mann, terrific deal on great upland shotgun. Don't buy any lottery tickets, you just used up all your luck for a while.IMO, you could pay three times that and still consider it a deal.

The Veloce was reviewed QUITE positively recently in Shooting Sportsman.

I got one a year and a half ago. It was ~200 dollars and I have to say that I love shooting trap with it more than my Beretta. It kicks a bit so go light on the loads. It is just the opposite of a rattle trap, it took a while to loosen the action... I have run several hundred rounds through it and it just now 'snaps' open. Remember the safety does not automatically engage after opening and closing the action so be careful. The barrel selector is perfectly placed but it is small, making it a bit awkward for cold weather shooting with gloves. All in all, great gun!

Had one in the late 70s and loved it for just about anything. Primarily
used it for grouse and pheasants in Michigan. Moved to Texas and stupidly
sold the gun. Had fine woood and closed like a vault. Excellent chokes
and overall quality. You will not be disappointed. Browning design not
Italian per se in design.
