Has anyone had any experience with 380's and small rifle primers?

The only reason I can think of to even try them is if you have no other primers. There is no reason they could not be used if the gun reliably sets them off, but I would stop just shy of max data as well, or earlier if any signs say to.

I have a couple of 380's one is a Hi Point and it will eat anything that fits in the chamber. The other is a Davis Industries mousegun. The Davis will not fire anything with a rifle primer, hardly makes a dent in the primer. Put those same ones in the Hi Point after and they all go boom. That is the reason I will not use rifle primers in a pistol. In all my revolvers this is a non issue due to harder firing pin strike IMO.

I think that the use of small rifle primers in any caliber requiring a small pistol primer, can be done, but I don't think I would try it. sbs

I have used small rifle primers in a few pistol calibers, .380 just happens not to be one tho. No reason not to use it as long as you stay away from max loads as walkalong sayes. If the handgun fires the primer there's no reason not to use them.

Reason I use them is because I have bricks and bricks of SRP I purchased on a closeout a number of years ago for approx $50 bucks a brick.

My Kahr P380 will not fire reloads with a small rifle primer. The Kahr is striker fired and the small rifle primers may just be too hard.
