Loaded Chamber Indicator & Removal?

Hello all, I have a couple of questions about removing a loaded chamber indicator from a Steyr M40 pistol. First, will it effect the function of the pistol? If not, then secondly, how does one go about getting it out, as I can't figure it out.

PS. The reason I would like to remove it, is that it is leaving a mark on my brass which I don't like.
